SimFreak Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Test your skills and show your airmanship! Challenge is simple. Take off. Reach highest altitude that you can. Land (same airfield as T/O). Just one small constraint. You only have 1,000 pounds of fuel. Download the attached mission. Upload your trk attempts. Have some Fun! Post your take off time, Altitude reached and landing time. Can you reach 30,000? 40,000? 50,0000? Higher? Good luck!f16to.miz

Diesel_Thunder Posted April 18, 2020 Posted April 18, 2020 Just got this bird yesterday myself. Very impressed at it's agility, especially compared to my Warthog. Couple questions though. What are the starting conditions? Cold ramp start, takeoff from ramp, takeoff from runway? Which airfield? Just curious on this, so we can all start off the same. Oh sorry, didn't realize your post had a mission file. Thought it was a track. My mistake there. I won't be able to do this then, I don't have the NTTR map. Deano87 Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Remaking the mission for Cauc might be a good idea. Then at least ppl without NTTR can give it a try. Diesel_Thunder Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 (edited) Did you glide back down? Yes. Engine flamed out around 37,000 feet, but had enough speed that I was able to climb another 4,000 feet before gravity took over. Within seconds of the flameout, the EPU was up and running. Turned around and dove towards the base. Leveled off around 5,000 to set up for my approach. Soon after I had weight on wheels the EPU shut down. In hindsight, somewhere on the way down I should have lifted the EPU switch guard and just set it to on so I could maintain controls as I coasted down the runway. SimFreak Posted April 20, 2020 Author Posted April 20, 2020 (edited) Folks that are attaching trk, please mention which version you are using. ie beta or stable release. So trying to figure out a way to score, I’ve created excel calculator by using standard deviations with standard normal distribution and z score. I’ve given %50 to time penalty over altitude. U = 450 for alt and 4:30 for time. lobo** = 86.7 SimFreak = 77.1 Veltro2 = 75.2 Diesel_Thunder = 58.6score_calculator.zip Edited April 20, 2020 by SimFreak

lobo Posted April 21, 2020 Posted April 21, 2020 BTW that is already below the minimal safe fuel for landing before you even take off. I think that is (the main) part of the challenge. SimFreak Posted April 21, 2020 Author Posted April 21, 2020 Revealing almost all of my techniques here. I can probably go a little higher. FL555 (+26 = FL581 = 100.0 points) Total time: 5 min 41 seconds. Also, difference between Mozdon and Creech is 2618 feet. So folks doing this challenge can add that value to their max altitude if you're flying from Mozdon. I hoped little higher participation to keep things fun during this time.
