Dave317 Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 I'm looking at upgrading my gpu to a 2080 ti. I've been checking amazon prices recently and last night I saw quite a few offering really cheap prices. They are ''used like new' which according to amazon means it may just be a damaged box. It looks like a scam as it seems too good to be true. What do you think? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07KZY9PCQ/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_gndNEbBE7X29S
David OC Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 (edited) It seems like it's sold by MSI if you click on the by msi at the top. Good price at £457.79 Mixed reviews on there. Dave317 Posted April 19, 2020 Author Posted April 19, 2020 It says its sold by pro Star. Then when you go to checkout it says bijou karat.
David OC Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Yep, my bad. Still has reviews tho. Seems like a hit or miss going by a few reviews? It is on Amazon and backed by their returns, not bought PC things off amazon myself. i7-7700K OC @ 5Ghz | ASUS IX Hero MB | ASUS GTX 1080 Ti STRIX | 32GB Corsair 3000Mhz | Corsair H100i V2 Radiator | Samsung 960 EVO M.2 NVMe 500G SSD | Samsung 850 EVO 500G SSD | Corsair HX850i Platinum 850W | Oculus Rift | ASUS PG278Q 27-inch, 2560 x 1440, G-SYNC, 144Hz, 1ms | VKB Gunfighter Pro Chuck's DCS Tutorial Library Download PDF Tutorial guides to help get up to speed with aircraft quickly and also great for taking a good look at the aircraft available for DCS before purchasing. tintifaxl Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Hacked account offering electronics at too good to be true prices. Scam! Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.
Svsmokey Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Looks to me like a reseller of surplus/returned goods . Given Amazon's policies and the EU's consumer protections , i think it's safe . Bijou Kerat's business info is listed at the bottom of the page without buying , so I think it is legitimate as well . Just be aware that there is a good possibility that the gpu you get may have to be RMA'd . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2
Dave317 Posted April 19, 2020 Author Posted April 19, 2020 Hacked account offering electronics at too good to be true prices. Scam! That's what I thought too. I'm sure I'd get the money back if it was a scam. I'll do and more research but at the moment I'm going to avoid.
DW2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 Looks very dodgy to me! Purchase with a credit card, at least that way you can do a charge back through your credit card company if it is a scam
tintifaxl Posted April 19, 2020 Posted April 19, 2020 That's what I thought too. I'm sure I'd get the money back if it was a scam. I'll do and more research but at the moment I'm going to avoid. Just google a little and you'll find a ton of info on that scamming scheme. Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.
Dave317 Posted April 19, 2020 Author Posted April 19, 2020 I hadn't thought about this but it may not necessarily be the seller who is scamming everyone. Looks like a few shady characters are buying new gpus then returning them with their old cheaper gpu in the box sometimes even swapping the stickers. The warehouse workers may know nothing at all about gpus and just put them straight back for sale again.
Bearskin Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 I went through the same last year mate, don't waste your time My previous post https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=242388 Z790, 13700K, RTX4080, 32 gig RAM, Warthog, WarBRD base , Virpil Pedals, Pico 4
Dave317 Posted April 20, 2020 Author Posted April 20, 2020 I won't be for these reasons. Price too good to be true. Different seller names. Reviews relating to other products. Not a single question answered by the seller. Many mistakes in the tech spec page. Brand new seller account with no feedback. Guess I'll have to keep saving .
Bearskin Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 Guess I'll have to keep saving . Exactly what I ended up doing, I was lucky though, I swapped my Gas/Electric supplier and got £100 Amazon vouchers so the hit on a new 2080 wasn't as harsh as it could have been.
