HoYa Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Starting to get the hang of this What is the command to switch from the 120 amram to the aim 9 ? I’m having to click the display since I simple cannot find the command. There are about 8 “dogfight missile override” commands, how do u pick one (or just which one should I pick) All contacts on radar look white, no difference between Allie and enemy, what gives ? As usual, thanks to all who reply
MadCat1381 Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 Wich command you should use depends on the setup you're using. I have a Warthog throttle and put the Dogfight switch command to the boat switch. Boat switch forward is "DOGFIGHT/Missle Override Switch (special) - MISSILE OVERRIDE/CENTER" Boat switch aft is "DOGFIGHT/Missle Override Switch (special) - DOGFIGHT/CENTER" I set both modes (and the other 3 as well) up on the ground while the INS is aligning. Which mode should use which missile, what MFD I want to see aso. Switching missiles should be MSL STEP button long press on the stick.
HoYa Posted May 1, 2020 Author Posted May 1, 2020 Madcat, thanks for the reply. However I’ve read it like 10 times and I cannot find the answer to any of my questions. Can you please be specific and clear.... Again thanks

None of this tells me, How do I switch between missiles quickly on the hotas ? What is the difference in the dogfighting override options Or Why all radar contacts are white with ni IFF as originally posted.

As usual, thanks to all who reply Sorry for not being clear. To switch missles with the HOTAS you need to press the "NWS AR DISC MSL STEP Button". You'll find it in the HOTAS section in the controls menu. But it's not a short press. You need to press it about a second. Default keyboard command is "s". The dogfight switch has 3 positions. The center position, wich is "off", the "dogfight" position and the "missile override" position. The 8 possible bindings in the controls menu in DCS account for different joystick/throttle setups. If you have a setup with a threeway switch with permanent positions, you should use the two command from the "special for joystick" category. As long as we don't know what kind of stick-throttle setup you have, it's hard to recommend something. The contacts on the radar screen are white, because you need to do an IFF interrogation. It's not automated. Target management switch short press left (less then a second) should do a full IFF interrogation.
HoYa Posted May 1, 2020 Author Posted May 1, 2020 Madcat ! Freaking outstanding ! I actually understood every answer (NO sarcasm). Thanks buddy, you just saved me a ton of time and frustration, I owe you a beer..

Hello, This effects a switch between the same type of missile, not between AIM-9 to AIM-120. How can one change from IR to Radar guided, other than clicking at the SMS page ? Thank you. sigfan86 Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 There it is, missed that back there. Thank you Panther. A quick way to tell is listen for the growl of your sidewinder. Usually im switching while maneuvering for a close in kill and not looking at my HUD, so that method works for me System: Ryzen 5900x, G.Skill 3600 32GB, MSI 4090 suprim liquid X, samsung odyssey+ headset

My issue was another: which was the specific HOTAS button to change from Sidewinders to Amraam and vice-versa, (besides the option at the SMS page).
