On the fresh Youtube "Press release" videos, carrier seems to be way upscaled in size, looking at it from quite a distance. I don't know about others, but for me it is pretty much a big visual cheat, defying immersion.

Anyone knows if that scaling will be optional, or switchable back to realistic / no upscaling at all?

Thanks

And? Maybe you could see goof old stennis too from this perspective? Maybe its just bether contrast. Ma by its just a LOD/Size fix and now its more realistic?

Maybe wait and see for yourself before you run into the forum before blaming ED for adding visiual cheats?

In VR I can spot MiG-21Bis from 14 km range. That should be almost impossible. Yet so it is.

And that is without any zooming (I don't even have zoom functions binded and never use them).

But don't ask that can I identify those dots on the sky... That requires much closer distance.

So how far you should be able to spot a carrier? Those are after all 330 x 75 meters in size...

i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S.

Sadly my first post was deletet.

I give it anorher try. Maybe the guy in the video just talk what he think but know nothing in special. For him it seems to look different. That could has many reasons. Som upscaling (in a multiplayergame lol) is the least one. He is just speculating. No reason to take him serious in that point.

Just to clarify again, I did not believe what he said, I believed what I saw with my own eyes in his video, while he was saying whatever he was saying. Did you see the part where from 10 NMs out, the carrier was big as a barn door? Or did you see that video at all?

P.S.: I just did a quick calculation to cut any subjectivity. The 333 m long Theodore Roosevelt looked at from 10 NM, should be 25.6 mils, broadside. The gun pipper is 50 mil in dia. So from bow to stern, the carrier should almost exactly fit between the dot and the pipper's edge. If no pipper visible (as it is not there on any video), the same 25.6 mil angle is about 4 little segments of the dashed lines of the pitch ladder.

Now if you see this Grim Reaper video

, and start it at 9:10 where it is now, you will see the carrier at an angle of about 55° (present Hornet heading = 48°, BRC 353° = 360° - 7°, 48°+7° = 55° left aspect), sin 55° is around 0.8, so at this distance it would look another 20% bigger, if it would be totally broadsiding your aircraft.

On the video, the carrier is a bit less wide than 4 segments at 10 NM, so maybe it is really not looking bigger than it should after all.

So explain me, why should ED do something like this? Such skaling will **** up VR users massively.and the carrier has tacan, you dont need visual until you are on landing paddern. Adding somerhing like this makes no sense

Lucky you..in VR i cannot spot aircraft at 2 miles

Joking....but with current headsets it is still a challenge
