So I was basically testing out my VR Settings for the Oculus Quest with Oculus Link.

I watched a lot of tuts and guides from youtube and on here to get the most out of it.

Due to my tries to find the best settings for me I encountered one problem:

No matter what I change, my FPS on the ground (for example "start from ramp") doesnt go above 36. I tried using the oculus tray tool to change the PD - i tried 1.0 - 2.5 ... I always stuck at about 25-35 FPS on the ground, no matter what I change.

That is ASW kicking in, not unusual when on the ground.

The Quest is a 72 Hz device, so ASW = 36 fps ( half the 72 fps when ASW is not kicking in).

If it is dropping below 36 fps, then you may want to check graphics settings and lower some where you can.

Okay I dont get what you mean.

"(half the 72 fps when asw is not kicking in)"

I have ASW turned off in the oculus try tool. How is this possible?

I was not aware you had it turned off. In that case your fps will fluctuate between 36-72 fps.

What I was saying, if ASW is on, when it kicks in it runs at half your fps. FPS on a Quest with running at full fps ( ASW not kicking in) would be 72 fps, as the Quest is a 72 Hz device.

When ASW kicks in is when fps drops below 72 fps, it then drops it to 36 fps and interpolates (predicts) every other frame to still run at 72 Hz.

With ASW off, it will run whatever fps it can achieve, with max of 72 fps, but may introduce stuttering.

Ground at airfields often has very low frames , at least in VR . You can even fly low over most to experience it . I thought at first it was static aircraft , as in the Hornet ready on the ramp at Kholki , but even flying low over an airfield with only a Hip and a Candide will drop frames , so now i'm not so sure .

You should run Oculus Debug Tool (when game is running) and check is your AWS settings are indeed correct. Oculus Tray Tool sometimes sets them wrong.

OculusDebugTool is usually localted at: C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics
