Possible fix for shadow fps

Hi all,

Here's a simple file for fixing shadows killing frames on SC. I changed default low setting with Nevada low and it got me appr. 40-45 FPS vs 20-25 FPS with default low setting on my 1060 Max-q. Put to /Config/Effects/

Don't forget to backup.

You have to use Shadows - Low in game.

The file changes shadow draw distance from the cockpit basically reducing it.

File does not pass IC.

It does not, unfortunately, so only SP/own servers. Maybe someone smart could make it pass IC.

But this tweak seems to change the 'shadow view distance ' from cockpit right ?

 

I'm not sure to get the plane shadow on the terrain anymore now.

This the most useful for me : to give information about the plane altitude when low flying and terrain variation

I'll test some setting about good distance value to get my useful plane shadow.

 

 

This tweak can be use for people interested in 'shadow cockpit only'

There are many thread about 'shadow cockpit only'

 

@Nealius you can search for the file with windows explorer

The file is in $DCS_INSTALL/Config/Effects/ as said in first post

Yeah, that's what the file does basically, reducing shadow draw distance. I updated the description. Will check the other threads, thanks! Maybe there are more elegant solutions.
