My wife always roles her eyes when she finds me in the toy section at Walgreens. :megalol: @leafer Mostly metal. The stabalizers are plastic, as are the fake little missiles. 1
SuperKungFu Posted February 8, 2008 Posted February 8, 2008 so which company makes these models? And are they detailed. Its hard to see from those pictures. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
rocketeer Posted February 9, 2008 Author Posted February 9, 2008 Here you go, a zoom in. My A10C cockpit thread
rocketeer Posted February 9, 2008 Author Posted February 9, 2008 are those metal? Yes, they are diecast metal. so which company makes these models? There are two brands, Maisto Tailwinds, and Kidconnection. I can't remember which one is from Walgreens, which ones from Walmart. But both brands are cheap, about $2-3 each I think. I've got many others, F-16, F-18, F-4, Apache, Mirage 2000, F-117, Eurofighter, F-22, Blackbird, Chinook, SU-47, B1B, E2C, Rafale etc. Actually the picture above is the KA-52, not 50. It's a bit embrassing when the box says for ages 3+, and you're caught holding one of these when a hot chick walks by. My A10C cockpit thread
GreyStork Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 It's a bit embrassing when the box says for ages 3+, and you're caught holding one of these when a hot chick walks by. They're for your nephew, of course. ;) I have a couple of F-18s of the same make right here, on top of my bookshelf. I'm sure I will give them to my nephew some day. :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] - Study flight sim geek since Falcon 3.0 -
RedTiger Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Yep, those are the ones I have. The cool thing is that Su-37 is fairly accurate representation of the real thing, right down to the tail number http://www.enemyforces.com/aircraft/su37.htm Not bad for a $3 or $4 diecast toy. Does anyone have any of the bigger stuff? I have this sitting at the computer desk: http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=BBX10019&mode=retail&picture=out Crazy how big a "little" jet like the F-16C is in 1:18 scale. A 1:18 F-15 or F-14 would be enormous. If you want some expensive diecast, Franklin Mint makes a line of large diecast models. Check out the Tomcat (look at the scale next to the coffee mug): http://www.flyingmule.com/products/FM-B11E210 As someone once said on another forum "if these models improving, there won't be any reason to build your own!"

SuperKungFu Posted February 10, 2008 Posted February 10, 2008 Ah now that I saw those pictures up close, its not detailed enough IMHO. I usually get these types of models. Fully assembled and metal. All these models above have movable parts like rudder, flaps, canopy, airbrake. Pretty cool. But in the end, its best to make your own so you can add more detail like the pictures before (i didn't build her, saw it somewhere and thought it was very cool). Would like to have those skills someday [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
rocketeer Posted February 10, 2008 Author Posted February 10, 2008 I've seen these pics before. It was a clever touch up of mixing real people with the toy model. My A10C cockpit thread
