Standard Case I Recovery mission, ME map, I am doing an approach:

"Inbound", me going above the carrier, "Kiss off"-"Signal Charlie"-"Hornet Ball"... then it gets strange as my wingman overtakes me, gets right in front of me on the groove, gives me a solid wake turbulance and then, as if he realises his mistake, goes for another approach...while my approach is ruined and I have to make another attempt as well.

I understood I had a priority for recovery, given ATC commands. So why my wingman got right in front of me on the glideslope?

mighty pilot, so it seems

….because he failed to hit you on taxy, he also failed to ram you out of the sky by forming up with his wingtip in your engine intake. He probably figured trying to knock you off during final approach was the only way left he could keep his membership to the DCS wingman AI union.:pilotfly:

But c´mon, that TOP GUN movie-kind of pissing contest competition isn´t real (or healthy) :pilotfly:

Are you flying the right numbers, distance? Time, altitude? I had no problems so far. After kiss off wingman flies straight and breaks after 20 seconds or so. He will get in front of you only if you spend way too much time getting on speed, when you dont break right after astern, align in the groove too far away from the ship etc.

Kiss off and wigman only work when you do everything "by the book". It is not programmed to wait until you get shit done ;)

"Inbound", me going above the carrier, "Kiss off"-"Signal Charlie"-"Hornet Ball"...

Also, first you get "Signal is charlie", then you give kiss off command much later, when you do your first break left after initial point, right before gear down

I experienced the same a few days ago.

I stopped using AI as wingman in SP long time ago. Once in a while I do a quick test just to confirm they are still stupid. I use them as separate sections or divisions mostly to launch lots of weapons or as cannon fodders.

In my recent sanity test I tried a simultaneous (almost) case I launch from cats 2 & 4. Everything looked good until wheels up. He accelerated in front of me, disregarded case I procedures, came back around at high speed and passed me beak to beak before settling in loose formation. I just told him to RTB.

Be aware your wingman is on channel 1 with the carrier on arc1 not arc2 as per the mission brief...
