US 'intercepted Russian bombers'

This is becoming a regular event.

BTW, I wonder what is the use of “intercepting” in cases like this one?

cause Putin wants to start something, and waiting for U.S. to respond.

Putin don't want to start anything. He just rise to Russia and don't let US puppets talk inside of country. He's the man.

I would say the word “join” would be more appropriate then the word “intercept”. Since our two countries are not in a war or anything like that. Everything happened in international waters as well. So, there was no need to intercept.

Putin tries to make Russia again super-power country and IMO good he is trying do that. He uses excellent time to rise of Russia, USA becomes weaker day on day. Russia has good president, much better than mine.

I'm sorry, v1per, but this is the worst drivel I've heard yet this week (and I work at Techsupport, so I hear quite a bit).

Russia isn't trying to start anything. They're flexing their military muscles, which is more for the morale of their own forces, their allies and the Russian people than anything else. If they wanted to start something, they sure as hell wouldn't buzz carrier-groups. Somehow I can't say that I see the Russians waiting for the US to attack them first if it came to that. And I can pretty much guarantee you, without knowing Putin or anyone in Russia, that they're not about to start a war with anyone.

Clustermunitions is just another way of saying that you don't like someone.

I used to like people, then people ruined that for me.

The intercepts are for internal consumption in russia to dispel the feeling of humiliation they had after the breakup. Putin ordered those to promote his psition to his electors. Nothing more. Im Sure the US fighter pilots are actualy delighted to see those bombers again, the same the russian crews who must like to walkabout with nostalgia.

Putin was selected with 70 percent vote majority at second time in 2003. Now he's going to leave his position to his demise. Putin doesn't need some internal consumption because in Russia there is no even defiance for Putin's United Russia party :)

Putin is rebuilt the country also gave people hope who lives there. He finished to Chechenian war and now he works on developing to army. Let me give you an example, Russia made 25 billion dolar credit dept to Usa (world bank) after CCCP broke up at Boris Yeltsin (RIP) time to rebuilt the country. Even people couldn't find a bread to eat and there was huge lines to get a single bread, everybody had ration coupon. Before Yeltsin leaves his duty, he announced to public that Putin must selected at next elections and people listent him. Usa made a payment schedule for dept to Russia like 10-12 years and Putin paid all this dept in 4 years. :) The thing is he was very lucky because of petrol par of exchange price was started to increase when he started to duty.

If you read his life, you can see that he's a real patriotic. If you go to Russia then you can understand who's the Putin.

Even though Putin has no real competition that didnt stop him from undermining (to say the least) all their chances for the elections. He was the head of KG-used-to-be, and even those who arent candidates but speak against his position have been suffering from chronic and rather bizarre sequence of "misshaps".

No, the word 'intercept' is correct since they are intercepting an aircraft, or flight path, or whatever else you want to intercept. It is a completely appropriate word to use since it literally describes the act at hand.

There was no real competition cause I don't count US puppets like Kasparov who's supporting by George Soros :) After Yukos and another cases I think they all disturbed by Putin.

Ps. Alfa sorry that was my last comment about it.

Not so. If the Bear would tried anything (opened its payload-doors), the Super hornets would have taken action...

Actually its required to open its bomb bay for the SH's to inspect it and prove there's no weapons being carried inside.

PACIFIC (Feb. 2, 2008) An F/A-18 Hornet from Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 11, embarked aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68) escorts a Russian Tu-95 Bear, long rang bomber aircraft on Feb. 9, 2008 south of Japan. The bomber neared the vicinity of the carrier resulting in the fighter intercept. Nimitz was transiting through the Western Pacific on a regularly scheduled deployment when the incident occurred. Nothing more than internal political muscle flexing- for their own good. Pooty Pie has to do something to puff himself & the russian military up in front of the public. This has been going on for a long while. The difference now is that someone in the melodramatic media noticed. The US navy knew they were there, knew they were coming out, and if any hostile intentions were about- they would have all been taken out WAY ahead of time. Let em put on their little theatre if they want. Those guys don't get to fly in a year what a US pilot does in a month.
