Even they should have floodlights and instrument panel lights (unfortunately no control over what and brightness etc). Only aircraft I can think of is the I-16 and the Yak-52. OP is it one aircraft in particular or is it a general issue? Most aircraft don't have a simple keybind for cockpit lighting and it requires you bind individual switches/knobs, or find them in the cockpit.
