Any idea of what we can expect in the next Tomcat update? It's the only aircraft I fly, so I'm keen to see what's happening with the A model, lighting, better undercarriage/landing modelling, and so on. Or am I just being an impatient brat?

You're just being an impatient brat. :D

Seriously though, the last update was not exactly a small one, it was an extensive amount of work to fix the lights and adjust them to the new lighting in DCS and included some important Jester fixes, etc. That said, it was not a major release patch of new goodies either ofc.

Throughout the summer we are aiming for some more noteable patches though, but I cannot promise you for the next one to be a "biggy", because as always we'll take the time to get it right first, rather than rush it.

The A version has begun early testing phase (albeit missing some artwork, etc atm), we're closing in on Forrestal and campaigns, but to designate a specific patch for them is premature and only gives wrong hopes for now. In that sense thank you for your kind patience in the meantime. :)

PS: (there is a lot of other stuff I did not mention now, we'll put everything in a more structured manner in one of our next updates.)

Thanks for the update IronMike, greatly appreciated. Apologies if I understated the work that went into the last patch; we all know that you guys are having to jump through extra hoops due to the stuff that ED is doing to the underlying simulator, and are hoping that they can get the base game in a stable state that will allow you to do what you do best, rather than tidy up other people's work.

Hi IronMike,

Can you please clarify whether the issue of significantly different brightness of in-cockpit displays vs their exported counterparts is a module specific issue or a DCS core issue? This is a long standing complaint with not much (if any) feedback from any devs. Is this on a bug list somewhere? With the lighting adjustments this became more severe in the recent past. In the Tomcat this is particularly annoying for the VDI at night - turning down the brightness in-cockpit to an acceptable non-blinding level renders the exported image almost unreadable (too dark). A 1:1 brightness level between the two is all I ask for

Next patch is not necessarily major, the one after is planned to be.

Can you at least confirm weather or not the F-14A is still on track to release some time this Summer?

(Summer for the USA that is to clarify to my Australian brethren)

ED's work...in breaking the entire lighting engine with the update of the P-47, its fixed now but HB went and essentially made their own lighting system anyway so theoretically if it happens again, it won't impact the Viggen or Tomcat

Interesting.

Yeah I mean...only reason Forestall got delayed from a April release was because HB wants to give you MORE features then they set out to do, that being, Super carrier compatibility....that and they didn't want their things to be over shadowed by the Super carrier as they said in their 50th Anniversary F-14 Q&A video, they want it to be special

That was needlessly rude.

I'm just telling the truth. I hardly would call that an insult. They state a release window and they always miss it. They always do.

Besides, they called some actual US Navy veterans that used to argue in a big thread about the phoenix missile "keyboard warriors" in the first trailer for the F-14 before release. It's not like they can't be rude either.
