rayrayblues Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 Currently, the comms menu stays on screen most of the time after radio messages are sent or received. I wish it would automatically close. Example: I am in my Su-33 on the new Kuz. I call, "Request Startup" The tower responds and the menu is still there. I have to close it manually. I taxi to the runway and because there is as yet a Flight Director to guide me, I have to switch to F2 to line up behind the takeoff chocks. I then call "Request Takeoff." The tower responds, the chocks and JBD are raised and the menu is still there. If I don't remember to close the menu manually, when I press F1 to return to the cockpit, I get "Abort Takeoff" instead. Often when I am on approach either to a carrier or airfield, I will use F2 view to make sure my gear/hook are down, or just because I want to look at the external view, the tower will say something, the menu stays on screen and then when I return to the cockpit, I get "Abort Inbound" instead. It's bad enough that we have to navigate a menu in the first place, but it would be so much better if we didn't have to remember to close it manually after each use. How difficult would it be to have it close automatically? :dunno: SLAVA UKRAINI MoBo - ASUS 990FX R2 Sabertooth, CPU - AMD FX 9590 @4.7Gb. Pizzicato Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 F12 will always allow you to exit the Radio Menu. I've mapped it to a toggle switch on my Warthog so that I can instantly switch from open (RAlt+\) to closed (F12). I know that doesn't solve your issue, but it's a workaround that works really well (for me). i7-7700K @ 4.9Ghz | 16Gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz | MSI Z270 Gaming M7 | MSI GeForce GTX 1080ti Gaming X | Win 10 Home | Thrustmaster Warthog | MFG Crosswind pedals | Oculus Rift S
Fusedspine33 Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 Using the previous suggestion with RSMapper sending a talk press command and the close command on release could work for you. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

randomTOTEN Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 (edited) That sounds like a bug. It always goes away when I send a message. Yeah the pop up on reception of a tower message can be annoying. EDIT: Oh, I get it. When you "Request Startup" the menu will clear as soon as you send a message. But the request is met with an immediate response of startup clearance, and since that's a transmission from the tower to you, the communications menu pops up again. Same for all the other calls. shu77 Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 Yeah same thing happens with ready precontact on AAR, its usefuel as its less button clicks if you are not in position. I would prefer to see something like the DCSNAV functionality integrated directly into the system. It would be nice to be able to contextually duplicate controls off one of the hats natively when in comms on the Hornet for example the default comms binding for the warthog adds the 4 radios to the comms hat switch with depress being PTT, it would be nice if when in this system you could use that hat switch to navigate the menu rather than having it still change radios. shu77 Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 If you havent done so check out the DCSNAV mod its far more useful for navigating the comms menu ffrom the HOTAS. Sierra99 Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 You don't have to use a separate switch...simply click the same button you used to bring the menu up and it will go away. It's not a bug. MAXsenna Posted July 15, 2020 Posted July 15, 2020 If you're able to use speech. I'd you suggest you have a look at VAICOM (+ Voice Attack). Unless you already have. It'll pretty much get rid of the menus. Sent from my ANE-LX1 using Tapatalk

It's not a matter of a separate switch, or any switch for that matter. The menu remaining on the screen after a message from the tower should close. I know it's not a bug, it's just annoying to accidentally send the wrong radio message simply because I have to close the menu manually after the tower speaks. That's why I posted it here under wishlist and not in the bugs section. SLAVA UKRAINI MoBo - ASUS 990FX R2 Sabertooth, CPU - AMD FX 9590 @4.7Gb.
