BobbyDevo Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 Hello. I am at a crossroads with my pc and I am reaching out for some knowledge. I have an ASUSX470-f MB with a Ryzen 1700x CPU. My RAM is 32gb 3000, and a 1g m2280ssd. I am looking to increase my RAM and ssd. So I am wondering with my finances I have 2 choises: go from 32g 3000mhz to 32g of 4000mhz. Or get 16gb 4600mhz RAM for about the same price. Thoughts and opinions? Thanks
QuiGon Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 I doubt that would make any noticeable difference in performance to be honest. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

stormrider Posted August 6, 2020 Posted August 6, 2020 You already have 32Gb of Ram. If its burning your pocket, better to upgrade your CPU. Banned by cunts.
OnNom Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 You already have 32Gb of Ram. If its burning your pocket, better to upgrade your CPU. Agreed. You aren't going to see much of a speed increase from RAM, get the bigger SSD. If you are still feeling like you want an upgrade, when the 4k series Ryzen chips drop later in 2020, you can upgrade to one of those without having buy new RAM or MB, you will just need to update your BIOS.
Rudel_chw Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 Thoughts and opinions? If I were in your shoes, I would rather replace the 1st generation Ryzen with a 3rd generation one, like the Ryzen 3600 or 3600X ... it will make a greater performance increase than the RAM or SSD would, and it is supported by your motherboard if using BIOS 4804 or newer. Cupra Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 It is not the speed that counts.. it is the number ob GB you have. You will never be faster with 16GB at 4000MHz, than others are with 32GB at 3200MHz... More is always better. ;) DCS F-16C Blk. 40/42 :helpsmilie: Candidate - 480th VFS - Cupra | 06
