ArcherII Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Hello, I'm considering purchasing the Syria map. But Ive been without internet connection for a while now, and there's no hope for it to be corrected in the near future. I do have, on the other hand, internet access through my cellpone data. That way I can join MP servers, activate products, etc, by setting up wifi connection to my PC. I do not have, however, the data or speed necessary to download a module as big as the Syria map. Given that I have another PC with proper internet connection elsewhere, is there a possibility I can download the Syria map, and transferring it to my DCS PC through an external drive, and then use the Module Manager to recognize it and install it in my system? Thanks in advance.
Rudel_chw Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 You need to update your DCS to the latest openbeta in order for it to recognize the Syria Map. It is not feasible to move your DCS PC for a while to your other computer location and update it there? For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
ArcherII Posted August 20, 2020 Author Posted August 20, 2020 I've updated DCS yesterday though my cell data. No problems there. It's the size of the map that I have issues with. An moving my DCS PC is not an option at the moment.
Flappie Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Given that I have another PC with proper internet connection elsewhere, is there a possibility I can download the Syria map, and transferring it to my DCS PC through an external drive, and then use the Module Manager to recognize it and install it in my system? I think it will work this way: 1/ Copy-paste the map folder from PC1 to PC2 (same path) 2/ Ingame, in the module manager, activate Syria map. ---
ArcherII Posted August 20, 2020 Author Posted August 20, 2020 The thing is, is it possible to download the map outside of the Module Manager realm? Like in a torrent? So I can then transfer those files to the DCS PC and let the Module Manager recognize and install them.
Flappie Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 DCS World is a free product. You can therefore install it on your other PC, then enter your credentials, then download the Syria map, then copy its files. The only thing you can't do is having two DCS games running at the same time using the same login. ---
