Snapage
I managed to do 296 knots in sustained level flight at sea level in the A8 after the last update. Is that to fast? That's only 4 knots slower then the P51D at full mil.

That's only 4 knots slower then the P51D at full mil. I couldn't pass the 525kph barrier (1.41 ATA).. which is very slow for the A-8 anyway. saburo_cz
I think that nothing has changed. 1,42ATA, 100% - 2700 RPM with ext. rack coolant flaps fully open - 518 kph (one previous DCS build 517 kph, my old test) coolant flaps fully close - 532 kph (532 kph, from the same like above) the same eng. setting without ext. rack coolant flaps fully open - 532 kph coolant flaps fully close - 547 kph (did not find any older data, lost them...) It seems that fully open coolant flaps have the same drag like external rack, but this is not new. Hummingbird
~518 km/h @ 1.3 ata ~535 km/h @ 1.4 ata This is with the ETC501 rack ofcourse. Top speed without the ETC rack was 548 km/h @ 1.42 ata, and 564 km/h @ 1.58/1.65 ata. This is according to the last performance charts dated 12.1.1945, which we therefore must assume are the most accurate.

iFoxRomeo
Thanks! That's why they used other boost systems like GM-1. But it still remains a mystery why it loses power in turns. Well, 1.58/1.65ATA boost increase and GM-1 would be awesome and make the A8 really strong. But I bet a "DCS Module-Giveaway" that we won't see both in the next 5 years, or at all. It doesn't loose power in a turn. Because if you loose speed during the turn, the propeller governor has to reduce the prop-pitch, but is just unable to reduce it fast enough during a hard turn, thus lags behind. When you ease the pull, the governor catches up and the rpm is stabilized again. You can see this effect on every other warbird in DCS. And you can make it more visible if you switch to manual propeller pitch. Manual prop pitch in the A8, K4 and P-47. P-51, Spitfire and the Dora don't have manual prop pitch. Switch to manual, fly a turn where your speed drops and you will see the rpm drop too. During a split s your speed as well as the rpm will increase . And I think AOA change on the prop comes into play aswell, but I don't know how strong the effect is.
