AAR Jester Comment Loop

I know this used to be a problem but I thought it was solved. AAR on a KC135 the other day, missed the first plug so pulled back a couple of feet and plugged in again ok - However Jester was off on a tirade of comments one immediately after the other for several minutes.

After he had been through what seemed like every comment in his repertoire once (I was trying hard to block him out) he defaulted back to normal fuel qty reports.

I just put it down to some 'AAR under pressure' training...but would prefer not to lol.

 

I know you can shut him up but I find the qty reports useful, and trying to work through the menu in VR while AAR is not ideal.

Heatblur, for all that is holy, please squash this bug. It is singularly the most annoying thing of all time! Just turn off all of the annoying jokes and comments all together.

Stopgap solution: Tell Jester to go silent before AAR. Reactivate Jester after connect to hear fuel callouts.

It's funny, when I'm having a "basket doesn't like me" day (because it's all the basket's fault, really :p ), Jester's jokes don't bug me. What does drive me nuts is "A little right. A little to the left." And so on. Probably because it induces me to look at the drogue, which invariably (and rapidly) leads to PIO. Also because he seems to lag a little bit, which means sometimes he suggests corrections I've already made and throws me off.

 

Though, I am finding that as I get better at AAR, he bugs me less in general than he used to.

there is already an option to do that in game settings. Plus just set Jester to no-talk before refueling. While I want this fixed I think there are some other Jester Issues that should be higher priority (looking at you TWS bug)

 

thank god for Human RIOs though, otherwise I would have lost my mind ages ago.

At this point I don't think any more resources to fix this bug should be wasted, just disable the AAR comments all together. Even if this was fixed, I don't want to hear these comments ever again.

 

It was a fun idea and a good initiative by HB that was spoiled by this unfortunate bug. For me these sound samples are compromised beyond redemption. Remove them or at least give us the option to disable them. And no, fiddling with Jester to circumnavigate this is not a satisfactionary solution.

again you can turn off "funny" jester in the game settings and you can also just mute him from the cockpit. Not sure how a bug like this has "compromised" the sound samples nor why that is any reason to completely disable Jester audio functions like this.

That is what I call compromised. I have no desire to ever hear any of those samples again.

 

The funny Jester option in the game setting does nothing as far as I know. In any case, I have no problem with his funny landing calls, because I have not heard all of them at once in a loop for 100 times. They are not compromised.

 

Having to manually mute and un-mute Jester for any refueling is no definite solution. I want to forget about these samples, not being reminded to avoid them every time I refuel.

There is no option to tell Jester to stop the dumb comments. I believe you're referring to the "boring Jester" option mentioned in the HB manual that is not implemented. Yes, I already do the 'set Jester no talking' before tanking, however, it's annoying that we still have to do that any time we want to tank.
