Game crashes on "select slots"

On Select Role I have to go slowly (I have a very weak system, Surface Pro 3 m3).

1- I click only once on a down arrow to move the list up (Red or Blue).

2- I get the circle of waiting , I do not touch anything until the circle stops.

3- After 30 sec to 2 min the circle stops and I can select a slot, or scroll the list.

I also did the Mustang Page FIle mod to my environment, and that helps with servers having more than 5 players.

I've also noticed the last DCS update audio demand/usage seems higher (I get more audio distortion - never had it with 2.5.5).

Yes, sorry, another crash while trying to connect to a server online, same place as before when rendering the server's slots screen.

That was in previously posted log UPDATE2.

 

When DCS crashes, it is usually on the selecting slots screen on MP, very rarely on SP ... it shows the screen, but freezes and then crashes before the back ground renders - dumps me back in windows. When I then try and reloaded DCS it fails repeatedly but if I reboot, works fine - this would suggest its not a config issue - otherwise it would happen every time.

 

If I fly MP, it happens perhaps once a day. If I play SP, it's very rare - perhaps once or twice in weeks. Apart from this, DCS is very stable and plays reliably for hours, even in MP, despite my oldish PC being max'ed out RAM and GPU wise. Doubling the RAM didn't help at al, so its not running out of RAMl. Sometimes it crashes the first time I connect to a server, sometimes the third or later time while playing various an MP sessions.

Ok, some more testing.

Loaded DCS without VR, connected to servers and disconnected, again and again ... no problems. However, I never fly without VR since it launched.

 

Then, loaded DCS with VR, connected to GSW server and first time - bang, back at the desktop, see log

 

Loaded DCs again in VR, connect to GSW again, ok, disconnected and connected to hoggit .. crash, see log 2

 

Loaded non-VR, connected to servers ok. Back to VR - crashed, see log3.

 

Rebooted PC, loaded DCs with VR, connected to GSW server and everything ok - see log4 :)

So, it would seem possibly VR related but only on that screen! I can't remember DCS crashing while flying in VR!

OK. You have a lot of info now. I think the crashes you get in SP are different. Let's focus on these MP crashes.

 

1/ Your issue is a freeze followed by a crash.

2/ It happens only in VR.

3/ It happens when the slots screen is being displayed.

 

I'm not sure where to look for now. I think the next logical step for you is to ask ED for a support ticket. Give them your latest logs with the explanations you gave me.

I seem to be having similar problems. I get alot of crashes on the select role in MP servers.

 

I also had a crash in the middle of a Raven One mission yesterday which was out of character, just as I slewed my pod onto a Kilo class sub the game crashed. Ran the mission again and it didn't replicate...

 

So, focusing on the crashes on select role, here's my log files (extensions changed to .txt to allow uploading). I see alot of out of memory errors, though I have 32GB of RAM, a 32GB page file, and 11GB of VRAM in my 1080Ti...

@Kula, @Sandman: You are both on W10 version 1909. You should both consider updating W10 to the latest version (2004).

Since updating to 2004 a couple of days ago and flying a few MP games, it hasn't crashed so far ... fingers crossed.

I’ve updated windows but haven’t had a chance to try it much yet. What little I’ve done does seem better! :thumbup:
