slickdevel Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 I've forgotten what the key/combo is to be able to look at the keyboard/screen/mouse/real world while in the headset. Is it the same one to get out of that view? Need that too. Someone must use it.
speed-of-heat Posted September 8, 2020 Posted September 8, 2020 If you are using WMR I just say "Torch on"... slickdevel Posted September 8, 2020 Author Posted September 8, 2020 Yes, HP Reverb and "flashlight" is the word that works for me. Thanks!
hansangb Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 (edited) LOL. Had no idea. I thought it was a joke until I googled it. Is the view pretty decent? In the original Vive it was nearly useless. EDIT: just configured it and tried it. Slight lag turning on but very usable. Normally, I just peak under the bridge of my nose, but this gives me more options. Thanks! slickdevel Posted September 9, 2020 Author Posted September 9, 2020 I tried it while in DCS last night and couldn't get it to work. I'll have to try again.
slickdevel Posted September 9, 2020 Author Posted September 9, 2020 Tried again today to get flashlight to work while in DCS. Voice command did not work, neither did the wand.

You have to make sure you enable Speech options in SETTINGs. I don't have a the link anymore, but when I googled it, it had step by step instructions. Make sure you speech is enabled in Windows. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
slickdevel Posted September 9, 2020 Author Posted September 9, 2020 It will work when I'm in the WMR desktop, just not ingame. I believe I have speech setup as I use Voice Attack.

Well that kind of sucks. I haven't had a chance to fire up DCS after the MB upgrade. I'll give it a whirl this weekend and report back. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
speed-of-heat Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 You have to have speech set up in wmr, that's not the same as having it set up for voice attack, check in wmr settings for having cortana listen to you or something like that... slickdevel Posted September 10, 2020 Author Posted September 10, 2020 Speech has been turned on this entire time. I never used Cortana before but I checked and speech is recognized. A voice command does work, I can initiate flashlight with a voice command when at the WMR desktop.
slickdevel Posted September 10, 2020 Author Posted September 10, 2020 OK, last flight I opened Cortana and left it open. I could open flashlight in flight so I take it Cortana needs to be turned ON? If that's it, Thanks for your help.
speed-of-heat Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 yep it shouldn't need to be open in the background ... just enabled SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
pastranario3 Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 I don't want to enable cortana to generate fps drop, is there a shortcut to turn on the flashlight?
speed-of-heat Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 Not that I know about, and if you think cortina is dropping you FPS, your system is screwed up in some other way. Before Cortana should ever be a perf problem... I mean you don’t think turning on another camera and rendering another set of images won’t be a bigger perf overhead... Jarhead0331 Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 The commands including, "Flashlight on," only seems to work for me if I have the controller on. If I shut the controller off, all commands stop functioning. Anybody able to get it to work without the wands turned on? Thanks.
slickdevel Posted September 14, 2020 Author Posted September 14, 2020 I did not need a controller turned on for it to work and it works without Cortana.
Jarhead0331 Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 I did not need a controller turned on for it to work and it works without Cortana. That’s what I want to accomplish. How did you do it? What headset are you using? I’m using an HP Reverb. How are your speech settings configured? What voice command are you using?
slickdevel Posted September 14, 2020 Author Posted September 14, 2020 HP Reverb with a Logitech wireless headset. I set up speech using the info provided when I installed the "voice Attack" app. I use the word "flashlight" to turn it on and off. It did not work for me in-game until I opened Cortana once for some reason.

Doesn't really make sense though since the mic appears to pick up audio without the controller being on...that's the only difference I can see though.
Fri13 Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 Those who use Oculus headsets, one can make it so that when your head moves outside the Guardian grid, then you are automatically pulled out of VR to the black and white real world view. You can draw the guardian wall just slightly front of you if wanted, and disable the wall grid from being visible. This way you can just lean forward and see what you are doing. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
slickdevel Posted September 14, 2020 Author Posted September 14, 2020 There are times that "flashlight" still does not work for me. Sigh!
