Any possible way to control the radar from the pilot seat in multiplayer?

I can see datalink targets but they just don't seem to turn into radar targets.

I love the jet, but I just don't seem to be able to use it to kill bandits unless they're in range for

You'll have to use the Jester menu and don't forget to switch the HSD to Radar so you can see what hes doing.

Options you have include making him scan different altitudes and distances for example I could get him to scan at 100nmi at 20,000 feet as well as changing between bars and azimuth.

And keep in mind as well that scan distance just changes what the HSD displays rather then the range he focus the radar too.

I corrected that for you, as there is no way for the pilot to see the radar display (the DDD, which is the upper screen in the RIO pit). The pilot can only see the TAD, which is NOT a radar display, but a situational awareness display like the Hornet's SA page. It's a common misconception by Tomcat pilots that never flew backseat.

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

I haven't seen the option in the Jester menu to change the Bars scan range.

Scan range is under scan distance.

Bars you can't control directly but he optimises it fairly well, more when in RWS, fewer in TWS as you would expect. Never had issues with this. TWS-A also optimises scan volume both vertically and horizontally to keep the tracked targes inside.

To avoid issues with not finding targets due to altitidue difference, under the Radar Elevation section, the "scan at distance and altitude" fucntion is super helpful. It's a bit clunky manually, I recently bought Voice Attack and am using Bailey's profile for it and it transformed the experience with Jester.

You should be able to copy controls from

C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/Mods/Aircraft/F14/Input/Keyboard/F14-RIO/default.lua

and add them to the pilot keyboard .lua

Trouble is, you can't see the DDD! So all you can do is hook targets on the HSD. I do not know if disrupting his work flow breaks Jester at some point, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

Fair warning, I tried doing the opposite so that I could fly the plane from the back seat and get some practice as RIO, but this doesn't work in multiplayer. (Not that I failed integrity check, but you aren't allowed to spawn in an aircraft as RIO. The pilot has to spawn first. And the plane despawns when the pilot leaves)

Also, you have to be careful of how many commands you add to your controls. Make sure you have backup, because too many commands and axis can break your control scheme.

I suggest trying Viacom Pro with Voice Attack (Bailey's profile might be good too, but I haven't tried it)
