lt_d4n Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Is it planning to redesign the cockpit panels? look very washed and unrealistic
VC Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 (edited) By "unrealistic" do you mean "not dirty"? I think the textures are final now, they were not great when released but have been updated once already. If you look at the real plane, they are new built and fresh painted, they do look like that. I like it personally, nice to sit in a cockpit that doesn't look like it's 50 years old and never cleaned. Edited October 4, 2020 by VC VC =X51= Squadron is recruiting! I think there’s a few things that still need textures, the throttle base, some piping, the area behind the cockpit. Clean is great but not having textures even makes clean things look too clean. There’s also external pylons to be textured, so it’s clear they deliberately left this for when almost everything was done and just release one paint kit on release Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
lt_d4n Posted October 4, 2020 Author Posted October 4, 2020 Do you see this front panel realistic? I'm not saying I want it dirty or clean, but realistic, because those panels look washed out and not realistic, it hasn´t textures, compare it to f16, f18, f14 ...
VC Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 I don't know if the UFCP is one of the things Aeria means is missing textures, but for me it looks pretty good. F-18 one is scratched and missing paint. The texture is probably different material too. Look at real JF-17 cockpit pictures below. That panel is just a smooth moulded piece of plastic, has no texture in real life either so I think it's realistic. VC =X51= Squadron is recruiting! Yeah the front panel looks very good to me. Don’t compare to F series, compare to JF-17 cockpit EDIT: I’ve used up all my attachment space:( Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
paco2002 Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 IMO it is fine like that. I prefer readables cockpits, before thing like the F14 cockpit where you cannot even read the switches in VR.
AeriaGloria Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 (edited) Plastic front panel? I always thought it was metal painted white. How weird a look would I get at an air show knocking gently on the instrument panel to figure out the material? Lol One of my favorite things about how unfinished it is is that there are no panels in front of the HUD. I wondered on my first flights why it looks like the footwell has its own light bulb, but it’s actually a skylight for your feet and standing near the nose you would be able to look straight down in front of the HUD and see the pilots feet! The JF-17B cockpit really shows just how unfinished JF-17A is. It has actual plastic side panels instead of a peep show of the internal structure. There’s a CDU, tons of new gauges and stuff, pretty mind blowing They add all this fancy stuff, ADIs, F-16 style UFCP, but for the clock? They went back to analog8) Edited October 4, 2020 by AeriaGloria Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com
hamza_Khan Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Is this B cockpit for sure? The cockpit model present at Dynamic Simulation Integration Lab (PAF Minhas/ PAC) is this, which looks very/completely different from the pic above.
AeriaGloria Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 (edited) I know I saw that from the PAC video, I even took stills and analyzed it really close, and it seems like a very logical final version of JF-17B. Maybe I did believe this source a little too quickly, but I got it from here, and was pretty surprised if true https://defensenigeria.wordpress.com/2017/10/09/where-is-nigerias-jf-17-multirole-fighter/ Edit: So now I decided to do a reverse image search and find a previous source, and you are correct, I am sorely incorrect and was too quick to believe, it turns out it’s for a Saab upgrade of Pilatus PC-21:megalol: http://www.aereo.jor.br/2015/06/04/pilatus-pc-21-usara-computador-de-missao-e-de-graficos-da-saab/ So thanks for correcting my mistake:doh: But the similarities are interesting. The stick the MFD, I think PAF even visited Sweden around 200/2001 to look at Gripen and always heard that’s where they realized how great that MFD format was and decided to have Chengdu make JF-17 basically have the same screens. I do wonder what’s on that center pedestal under the MFD in the Minhas pictures, assumed it was for transferring control or failures or something like that But back to OP, I think once they finish all the textures and you take a look again you will see an improvement mostly around the side and back. But it will always look a little fake and textureless, even other Chinese cockpits, with so much glass and so little dials, I think the above incident is a good example of the “sameness” that many don’t like with glass pits. Who knows maybe in a couple years they will be some photos of the older overhauled airframes and we’ll get a nice worn cockpit livery:) Surprised I haven’t seen any on user files Edited October 5, 2020 by AeriaGloria Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com

I've heard the same thing. Cockpits are clearly very much SAAB influenced. JF17B cockpit looks very much like PC-21 cockpit in the link you shared.

VC Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Surprised I haven’t seen any on user files Modders are too busy doing the opposite, making clean cockpits for modules that look like they've been dragged out of a junkyard. VC =X51= Squadron is recruiting! AeriaGloria Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 (edited) Jus a grab from a video Like the B model notice how you can see fuel flow denoted by FF beneath the fuel gauges and OIL temperature above the RPM gauge. Wonder if those were added via software at some point Edited October 5, 2020 by AeriaGloria Black Shark Den Squadron Member: We are open to new recruits, click here to check us out or apply to join! https://blacksharkden.com

EnvyC Posted October 7, 2020 Posted October 7, 2020 Don't know why this meme still persists, the current texture work is damn close.
