RomanoDJr Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 I'm having issues with one person connecting to my personally hosted game/server in DCS. I have my port 10308 open and have confirmed that it is open. I have also tested with having other people connect to my server successfully while this person has been unsuccessful. I have watched him enter in the server address via screen sharing and I am sure that he is doing that correctly. He keeps getting a "server offline" message. He is able to see and connect to all of the online servers that we play on in the multiplayer menu such as Through The Inferno, Hoggit, Growling, etc. This makes me think that he's not having firewall/port issues. I have also checked my ban list and he is not banned. TLDR: 1. I've verified that my port is open and that people outside of my network can connect 2. I've verified that he can see and connect to other servers Any ideas on why I can't get him to connect to my server? :helpsmilie:
draconus Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 Can you all play together on other servers? Do you all have the same DCS version? Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
RomanoDJr Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 Yes and yes. Confirmed specific version numbers. As I mentioned in the original post we can join other servers... hoggit, through the inferno, growling sidewinder.
Adam Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 This a long shot - but maybe his IP address is in your firewall filter (either router, or locally on your PC), or vise versa? Quickest way to test is to get him to connect to the internet using a different IP address to connect from to see if that works? (Depending on your ISP this may be easy or more difficult).
RomanoDJr Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 Thanks Adam. I was kind of thinking along the same lines. I will contact my ISP to see if they have any blacklist/blocking features. I agree with you, probably a long shot. We used to be able to play together on my server some months ago.
Dunbal Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 This is going to sound crazy but ask your friend to reboot his router and then try again. I had a similar problem with another game and for some reason something got corrupted in my router's tables and wouldn't let me connect to that specific IP. A reboot fixed it.
RomanoDJr Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 Thanks for the suggestion. I'll have him try it.
Adam Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Thanks Adam. I was kind of thinking along the same lines. I will contact my ISP to see if they have any blacklist/blocking features. I agree with you, probably a long shot. We used to be able to play together on my server some months ago. Good idea with your ISP - but also check locally as well. If you have antivirus built in with firewall - it may have detected what it considered abnormal activity. If you have a smarter router - same deal. At this stage I think we're beyond the normal easy stuff and it's going to be something wild and whacky - so leave no stone unturned. FWIW - if your friend can get on another ISP (phone hotspot, 'borrow' a neighbours wifi by connecting to their internet temporarily, or take his PC to a friends place, etc - that will help 'rule out' or narrow down a lot of possibilities without having to go through them one by one. I would start by considering 4 areas: 1) His PC 2) His network / ISP 3) Your network / ISP 4) Your PC Do your best to knock out each area as best you can to narrow it down. If he can connect via someone elses internet connection, that rules out (1), (3) and (4) and focuses only on (2). Alternatively if it also fails then it narrows it down to (1) really. Good luck with it!
