CBenson89 Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Good day all in the viper is it possible to select which fuel tanks are used first? I want to take off with three bags use the centerline first jettison it and keep going. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
=Panther= Posted October 9, 2020 Posted October 9, 2020 Yes, use the Ext Fuel Trans, place it in Norm to use centerline first. Place in wings first to use the wing tanks first. Then jettison the emptied tank. Switch is located on center pedestal near the EHSI. Cupra Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 IF you want to drop the tanks, why don`t you emtpy firt the wing tanks and then the center one? It better for performance to drop the 2 big ones and not the small center one. As told before.. if you have the swioth in NORM you will use center first, in wing first position the wing tanks will be choosen pimary. If you first burn the wing tanks to empty before dropping, you end up flying with 3 tanks on for twice as long compared to if you burn the centerline tank first and drop it. True, but it also means that when you dump the two wing tanks you simply have the CL tank left, which is much better for say BVR than having 2 big wing tanks. Also, it provides a simple way to reduce drag significantly, while not dumping all your external fuel by dumping the wing tanks before they go dry 1 Eagle Enthusiast, Fresco Fan. Machalot Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 You're right. When you said performance, I was only thinking speed, range, and endurance. "Subsonic is below Mach 1, supersonic is up to Mach 5. Above Mach 5 is hypersonic. And reentry from space, well, that's like Mach a lot."
