I thought it'd be cool to check out some fighter documentaries but I have no clue which ones are good or not. I found one about the A-10 (I know it's not a fighter) but I was SOOO boring! It was mostly just guys on the ground talking about the plane and how much they love it and stuff. I just don't wanna go through that again!

So please list some good ones here, would really appreciate it.

I suppose you saw the "Great planes", Discovery channel documentary. Yeah, it's old, but the A10 is much better and newer than for instance F-15 or F-16 pieces, which sound like they were made right after the test flights ended in late 1970.

I am sorry, I don't have many recommendations. I only saw Great Planes, and Dogfights (which has some great moments, in between silly commentary and awful repeating graphics), and Battle 360 (same as Dogfights). There's Wings over the Gulf, another Discovery documentary (nothing special). The ones that I enjoyed were "The Sukhoi story", about the development of Su-27 and Wings of the Red Star - Mig 29 (but not because I like Russian planes). Oh, and "Modern Marvels - the F-15" and "Ultimate Strike Planes" are also quite decent.

'Speed Angles' was a good one. It's about the last two pilots to train on the tomcat before it was decommissioned. 'The Real Top Guns' is about the Australian Air Force and follows 4 or 5 pilots through different operations and or training.

Speaking of Australia, its ANZAC day here. (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps).

It's a day of remembrance. Lest we forget.

"Speed and angels" is a good film. Wish i had it in HD.

There are titles which i haven't seen, so i can't judge their quality, but none the less:

"Jetstream"

"real top guns" - a film shown on some Australian TV channel around dec07-jan08 (found this information somewhere in web news)

"Carrier", producer Mel Gibson.

It's premiere is today, if i'm not mistaken.

There's a very beautiful footage made by Lionel Charlet: "Ice Hornet" film and more.

There are also Russian films, studio and home-made, but they are harder to find, though some of them are in the torrents.

I came across Lionel Charlet's website not long ago.

There's a short movie out there called Swiss Airforce - Push the Limit, I'm sure you know which one I mean. It's one of my favourite fighter jet clips. I started some research to find out if there was a High Res version available somewhere and then found out that Push The Limit was just a kind of Best Of complilation of Lionel Charlet's movies.

Then I found his website and looked at some of the sample movies and I have to say that the footage is spectacular! Now I'm thinking about buying some of those movies especially ICE Hornets and Vols Blancs. Has anyone already seen one of his moveis?

Jetstream suggested by Maximus_G is absolutely excellent. It shows the progress of six pilots during training to fly the F-18. Its on the History Channel and discovery turbo, if it were to come out on DVD i'll be the first to buy it.

^^ Second that! Absolutely best aviation documentary I have ever watched. I've just watched the last episode today (saw every one) on polish channel (Polsat Play). Wow! I'm impressed. Anyone now if it went out on DVD?
