skypickle Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 is there anyway to do this in DCS without using the thrustmaster TARGET software? 4930K @ 4.5, 32g ram, TitanPascal
Sokol1_br Posted November 4, 2020 Posted November 4, 2020 No, the game don't have a 'keyboard emulator' embed for do this. :) Are - easy to use, but more simple; alternatives to TARGET like JoyToKey.
shu77 Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 Use Target, its easy then. There are plenty of examples of scripts. If you really dont like target try joystick gremlin Hornet, Super Carrier, Warthog & (II), Mustang, Spitfire, Albatross, Sabre, Combined Arms, FC3, Nevada, Gulf, Normandy, Syria AH-6J i9 10900K @ 5.0GHz, Gigabyte Z490 Vision G, Cooler Master ML120L, Gigabyte RTX3080 OC Gaming 10Gb, 64GB RAM, Reverb G2 @ 2480x2428, TM Warthog, Saitek pedals & throttle, DIY collective, TrackIR4, Cougar MFDs, vx3276-2k Combat Wombat's Airfield & Enroute Maps and Planning Tools
Weegie Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 TARGET has a lot of haters and it also take up some resource and reduces Dx button count. However it's pretty powerful and Dx count can be taken up to 120Dx with this https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/english/dcs-world-topics/input-and-output/170969-hack-for-tm-warthog-with-120-programmable-dx-buttons?t=171098 I think it's a great piece of software and (for me anyway) much more stable than JoyStick Gremlin and all the other emulators out there. The Editor which is where the real power lies needs a little bit of research though, but once you understand the concepts it's really not so hard at all. Just my experience, it seems very much a "Marmite" product
Bailey Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I use voiceattack. It features an easy to understand way of pressing keybinds with a hotas. I agree Bailey I use TARGET and Voice Attack, both are great. Voice Attack is great value and can do a lot more than just send Voice Commands, mystifies me a bit why others don't use more of its capabilities 1
skypickle Posted November 5, 2020 Author Posted November 5, 2020 Thank you for your replies. I'll try joy to key. Don't know about using voice attack. I fly with a bunch of other pilots and we chat using discord. I think they'd get annoyed if I was always talking to my plane. The main reason I need a keybind is because TrackIR keeps 'shifting' its center as my headset is sometimes jostled a little out of position now and then. So I've mapped the 'recenter key' for trackIR to button 3 on the thrustmaster T16000M and that is the only reason i need the TARGET software. DCS does such a great job of mapping, it even allows me to set a button on the thrustmaster throttle as a modifier key. 4930K @ 4.5, 32g ram, TitanPascal
Ant0ine Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 In the Track IR software you can map DX button (Your button 3 directly for exemple). So.. There is no need to use any software to remap a Direct X button to the Track Recenter key shortcut. Voice Attack can take voice as input obviously, but also direct X button, keyboard and mouse.
Weegie Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I have my profiles in VA added to Vaicom and use the same keypad presses that opens comms to Vaicom to mute Discord (& Teamspeak) so as I either call Discord or VA/Vaicom but never both at the one time 1
