[INVESTIGATING] Cowl flaps opening / closing speed too low?

Greetings all,

One of the things which caught my attention after the module was released was the very low speed of cowl flaps operation, compared to what I saw on Jeff Ethell's "Roaring Glory" P-47 episode.

In DCS P-47 it takes about 8-9'ish seconds to go from full closed to full open and vice versa. I suspect it should be noticeably faster though.

I can't find relevant fragment of the aforementioned "Roaring Glory" episode on YT, but flaps operation with comparable speed is shown multiple times in 1943 instructional video most of us are probably familiar with. Therefore, even though the wartime video is about Razorback P-47, I think the flaps drive system didn't change in Bubbletops.

The examples I'm talking about can be seen here at 19:34 timestamp...

... and here at 4:46, 12:05 and 21:06 timestamps:

In all cases, both on the ground and during the flight, flaps seem to open/close within 2-3 seconds.

Since similar issue was affecting wing flaps of "our" -47 and that was fixed in one of early updates, I'd like to request checking if cowl flaps don't require a fix as well.

@NineLine and @BIGNEWY, if you guys could ask Nick, I'd appreaciate it.

@ other guys - if you know any other old or modern video where flaps operation is shown, please share.

Cheers - Art

I recall a post by one of CMs in another thread years ago where I was writing about this subject, explaining that Nick considered current implementation OK based on restored bird he had experience with.

That's that I guess so I wouldn't expect a tweak anytime soon.

Aight yeah I was just curious, I've seen it both ways, in the old videos it's pretty quick... on a couple of modern restorations it seems more like ours. Since someone brought up the pitot tube icing from way back it got me thinking about this one again.
