Anyone figure out how to get some use out of the "friction axis"

So, is there a way to setup the throttle so the friction lever actually doesn't change the throttle friction and just works as an axis? (Trying to use it for the harrier nozzle lever, or F14 flaps axis)

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

I'm currently working on modding mine to include a second lever that just connects to the potentiometer in the throttle. So I can use the friction lever while also having a usable axis

System: Ryzen 5900x, G.Skill 3600 32GB, MSI 4090 suprim liquid X, samsung odyssey+ headset

As the Harrier is single engine why not do what I did with my Warthog, and the same I do with the choppers, left stick for collective or the nozzles, right stick for engine power ?

Its kinda dodgy imo. On the WH i use the fake friction lever for the nozzels.

It's not dodgy, It's a proper friction lever with an axis!!

I have just had to strip my throttle, never even used it yet.......I managed to break the USB B socket ffs.....anyway, you will be glad to know there is a proper potentiometer connected to the friction lever, and connected to wires, beyond that I cannot say anything more as I haven't even had a chance to use it yet. First pic you can see the pot on the left underside of the electronics board, and the connection lever to the friction.

Now I have finally gotten a chance to use mine after repairing it I can see what you mean, seems odd indeed, the pot is clearly there and clearly connected.

Is it possible to get rid of the real friction function and only use it as an axis ?

What's the odd part? The pot is there to move the virtual throttle tension lever in DCS F-18.

I guess if one would remove the screw connecting the lever to the pot and thus unhook them, you could fix a desired throttle friction level manually and then use the lever as a free axis for whatever purpose (e.g. nozzles in Harrier).
