I’m sure this has been answered before, and I’m sorry if this is redundant. Tapatalk doesn’t have search anymore and Wikipedia isn’t very clear. So here it goes.

F-14A = TF30 engine

F-14B = F110 engine

What’s F-14A+? Is that a late A variant that had an engine swap to the F110?

I know it’s an elementary question, but it’s eating my brain.

If you think that's confusing, there's also the original F-14B, a one-off prototype fitted with Pratt & Whitney F-401-PW-400 engines, the navy version of the engine used in the F-15.

Then there's the Sparowhawk mod, Different "Tape" Numbers, Honestly like there were only ever about 7 completely identical F-14's for any build it seems like. Add in field repairs and revision and basically no two airframes are really the same.

F-14A (TF-30)

F-14A Upgrade (PTID, Sparrowhawk)

F-14A+(GE F110 F-14B)

F-14B Upgrade (PTID, EGI, Sparrowhawk)

F-14D (Pre PTID, JDAM)

F-14D (PTID, JDAMs)

There is even more than that, but this was top of my head
