Installation issue: where to get missing file VAICOM PRO for DCS World.vap

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

since hours i am trying to get my purchased bundle of Voice Attack keys registerd - without success.

The keys i got via mail from vaicompro.com are usless -> voice attack says they are invalid!?.

The support wrote me that i have to enter them in the about tab. But i have no about tab at all in Voice Attack!?

After hours of self investigation i came to the conclusion that for what ever reason i am missing a file called

VAICOM PRO for DCS World.vap

I guess this prevent me getting the black VAICOM window with the needed about tab - where i hopefully can register my keys. I have purchased the whole bundle after seeing impressive youtube videos about it.

I cannot understand how people can program such an impressive tool but when they implement the registration process they failed at all.

:-(

The keys i got are xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

If i enter this into registration of voice attack its too long -gggrrrrrrrrrrr

When i remove all "-" the size would match but server says also "NO, registration invalid."

Does Vaicom sell crappy keys or am i somewhere wrong?

I have disabled F-Secure Virusscan during installation of VoiceAttackInstaller.exe and vaicom_pro_for_dcs_world.msi but result is always the same.

Profile folder is empty and no .vap file.

I start voiceattack as admin. Regardless what i do my purchased keys are not accepted

Anyone an idea where to get this file?

uninstall + new installation without having antivirus active. --> no success.

Thanks for help in advanced.

Daniel

The keys are not useless - you are trying to enter them in the wrong place. The problem with installers is that there are a large number of software / hardware configurations and some don't play as nicely as others.

I am guessing you have followed the instructions on page 5 of the manual - I know you say you have disabled your AV, but does it have any messages in its log as this is quite often a culprit

If the .msi file has not worked have you tried the .zip alternative (available at https://www.vaicompro.com/downloads.html just below the .msi option). This will allow you to control the process and should hopefully give you the file you need.

the .zip file helped a little, Thanks so far!

With it i was able to get the .vap file. Definitly a step into right direction, but now i am on the next obstacle.

LCtrl+LAlt+C does not open a window or so - nothing happens.

Clicking on + icon on upper right corner has greyed out menu points.

grrrr - I can see it but i can't click it.

This app is truly against me *lol*

voice attack ist started as admin and AV is at status all "security settings disabled". UAC is at "dont disturb"

Do you have a hint what to do next?

I am truly happy for every hint. I am out of ideas how to get to the window where i can enter the keys.

It appears you are not using a licensed copy of VoiceAttack. VAICOM requires a licensed version.

If your copy of Voiceattack (VA) is licensed, have you configured it as shown in the Vaicompro manual. In particular, you need to check that the VA option to allow extensions / plugins is allowed. The issue at the moment is a VA one and not a Vaicom one. Until the profile window shows Vaicom in it rather than My profile, Vaicom is not loaded and so you will not be able to access anything like the config screens

sthompson i have purchased € 19.95 the bundle from VAICOM. https://www.vaicompro.com/get-license.html

Let me know if this is a fraud company.

My expectation was purchase the key, activate it and start with speech learning.

The reality is way different. I am fighting since 2 days with the activation of my purchased keys. Its indeed rediculus.

I really have no clue what developer had in mind while write that code.

Does anyone knows what i have to do additional for beeing able to select a profile? non of the keycombos ALT+I or ALT+N,... is working!?

In options i can only select "My profile" but nothing else.

Do i have to copy the VAICOM PRO for DCS World.vap file somewhere else that its seen?

Right now its in: C:\Program Files (x86)\VoiceAttack\Apps\VAICOMPRO\Profiles

Plugin Support is enabled in settings and UI tells me VAICOM PRo 2.5 is initialized but its impossible to activate the VAICOMPRO profile.

The thing is, as long as i can't select the profile i am not getting to the VAICOM Pro window where i can add my purchased keys.

Funny is that program tells me "Press LCtrl+LAlt.+C for config. But this keycombo does not make anything neither any of the other combos and also the import button leads to greyed out menu items.

The problem is NOT with Vaicom it is with VoiceAttack. You will need to purchase VoiceAttack as well (https://voiceattack.com/purchase.aspx).

Both are good pieces of software and Vaicompro.com is legitimate - @Hollywood_315 on this forum is the genius behind it.

Looking at your VoiceAttack main log window there are a few possible issues to sort if they don't clear once you have purchased Voiceattack:

1. You should be able to import a profile once you have VoiceAttack full version.

2. The orange square message is telling you that you have more than one instance of Vaicom installed - we will need to sort that to ensure you work on one only

Are you on Discord with a microphone? If so, I am happy to have a call with you and get you up and running if you have purchased VoiceAttack and are still having problems

hornblower - i guess you are truly right. I indeed thought the full bundle with all extentions is VoiceAttack with all features activated.

In reality its like having "office pro" for windows but i am missing the windows license at all *lol*

OMG all this pain just because of a missing "minimum requirement" or have i overseen this info somewhere.

Anyway - i will purchase the extra $10 for VA license.

Funny is that i found a second VA.exe in VAICOMPRO folder. When i start this one and then on the VA icon next to win-clock the long missed VAICOM PRO window popped up where i could activate all my keys. :-D

Now i have a free version of VA with a pro version of VAICOM. Kind of strange.

A better info on VAICOM would be truly good. I am relativ new to DCS and could not find any infos if VAICOM is Voiceattack itself or a 3rd party seller or an ontop stuff (as it seems to be finally)

Entering this world seems to bear lots of holes for people like me to fall in ;-)

Thank you all for getting me out of this one. I am confident to get VA running pretty soon. I hope buying the VA license will also remove the "unable to access command (chatter) sentense. Because this should be included in my VAICOM bundle.

Or do i need to purchase a chatter "ground license" somewhere? ;-)

VAICOM Pro is not a fraud. But before it will work, you need to also purchase a license for VoiceAttack. See the following statement from the VAICOM Pro FAQ:

Q: Is this a stand-alone app?

A: VAICOM PRO is a plugin specifically for VoiceAttack which means you need to have VoiceAttack (licensed version) installed on your system to be able to use VAICOM PRO.

Your screenshots indicate that you are not running a licensed version of VoiceAttack.

Not a problem - Chatter does not need any kind of 'ground license':) If you have any further problems come back and we will help you. This is a great piece of software and really worth it

A thought: I purchased the chatter license separately, not as part of a bundle, so the following may not apply to you. I received a separate validation key for it and had to validate that key separately on the "about" tab before it would start working. Did you receive a separate key for chatter?

Another possibility is that you installed the chatter DLL in the wrong place. Where does it sit? It should be in VoiceAttack\Apps\VAICOMPRO\Extensions.

finally when i managed to get to the VAICOM window it denied my dcs world license at first. I then tried the AIRIO Dialog key which was the first of the row and it worked.

Ever other then worked either also the dcs key which initially was refused. Little strange - the key entering part is wired within this plugin.

Anyway after 2 days of hard work VA is licensed.

But i fear VA and I won't get friends in near future. My win10 is in german language (i am Austrian) and the speech recognition tries to identify every word i say as a german word and does not identify anything.

I thught i just need to train VA to my speech. But when the recognition SW works 100% agains you then the resluts are nearly 0%

The only solution is to change win10 layout language and speech to full english.

Its not what i want but i tried. Funny is that win10 with US EN language pack speech does not recognize a single english sentece when i talk *lol*

Seems like my german accent confuses win10 speech that much that i can't even come over the basic sentence of it.

I was hoping the chewing gum style EN would accept different accents little better but it won't.

I fear Alexa is lightyears away of win10 speech recognition. Training should help (they say) but if you cannot come over the first training sentece and neither after 5th attempt then its wasted time.

So right now i am unclear how to proceed. Maybe i give it another try but for now i have no clue how to get this solved.

In Windows speech (Control panel) there is an option to recognise non-native accents. This might well help you

I believe there are also German translations of the Vaicom commands which may help.

What I did:

I speak German as well. For the setup of Vaicom I switched the language settings of my computer to English and I started to train the speech recognition and vaicom. Depending on the way your English is spoken I would recommend trying US or British English, for me US works better. After quite some training and some workarounds (entering aliases to vaicom from what the speech recognition understands (sometimes quite some gibberish)) I'm mostly set. I had no joy with a lot of airports / ATC names. Trying to pronounce French or Arabic names in English as a non-native speaker results in certain fail.

With the training done I switched my computers language back to German. Works now, in the ability of the speech recognition software and my language skills OK.

When training, make sure you set the Windows speech engine to recognise non native accents - this may also help you

In case someone else runs into this, I just got VoiceAttack and VAICOM PRO, and I was running into the issues described in the title of this thread (missing VAICOM PRO for DCS World.vap file).

The problem was that VoiceAttack installs on "C:\Program Files" whereas VAICOM PRO was installing in "C:\Program Files (x86)"

So, when VoiceAttach started, it was not finding any plugins.  I copied the VAICOMPRO folder over to "C:\Program Files" and then all worked fine.  VAICOM created the subfolders and the profile file.

I had no issues setting it up, and I use the Steam version of VA.
The trick was to read the manual first, where it's very well explained how to do it, and NOT use the installer as it doesn't work with the Steam version, because of different paths to VoiceAttack.
Also now the path for Standalone VA, the installer might not work as VA is now x64 and NOT x86, hence the path has moved from "Program Files (x86)" to "Program Files".
I would encourage new users to read the manual, especially the part about installing and setting it up manually as you will learn more about hpw this actually work, and why it is setup this way. Makes troubleshooting a lot more easy.
Cheers!

This is due to recent changes in VoiceAttack that moved its install location. The installer for VAICOM will need to be changed to match but that hasn't happened yet. The fix is to do a manual install of the plugin, which is really nothing more than unzipping a file to the VoiceAttack APPS folder.
