What does the Hide switch do (next to follow topic)

Just wondering what the "Hide' switch does that's next to the 'follow topic' switch at the bottom of forums?

 

Does this permanently hide that particular thread, or does it only hide it until someone else posts, etc?

This function is working like soft delete post in old forum. It will hide post from all.

Is there any way to get my post back if i pressed hide ? I made a new post for my new script, and it is all gone. Thought this just would hide it until i wanted to publish it. Misleading name of the check mark.

as far as I am aware only moderators / admin can unhide posts. If you need to you can PM me
