Teeps Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 If I try to run the MI-8 instant action missions on the Syria map it CTDs on loading or after a very short time. This doesn't happen with other aircraft, although I am getting large freezes for the first twenty or thirty seconds on loading, e.g. the F-16 instant action mission. dcs.20201221-084144.crash dcs.20201221-084144.dmp dcs.log Win10 x64, 16 GB RAM, Ryzen 5 1600X @3.60 GHz, 500 GB SSD, GeForce 1080 Ti
Rudel_chw Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 On the graphics options, reduce the preload value to 30000, as it seems to be an insufficient memory issue. Teeps Posted December 21, 2020 Author Posted December 21, 2020 I had to go down to about 24000, but that did let it load. Time to order some more RAM. Honestly, DCS is like the gateway drug to spending on hardware. Win10 x64, 16 GB RAM, Ryzen 5 1600X @3.60 GHz, 500 GB SSD, GeForce 1080 Ti

You should try using Low Terrain textures, even in a simple SP mission, High Terrain textures in Syria use ~24 GB RAM This is Syria's RAM use with Low Terrain, Extreme Visibility and vsync OFF You'll also want to increase the size of the Windows page file to 16 GB or 32 GB, as High Terrain textures plus a complex MP mission can use +50 GB.
