I want to find out where he lives and STOMP him. He's obviously got a drinking problem.

I noticed that the A-50 can't detect F-16s. It's like they are stealth. Must have been from great range in Su-27 Campaign mission 2.

I wasn't fooled. I took my time and developed the situation. I listened to you sniper pilots out there and had my formation wide. Very nice.

I like to take on the F-16's lead fighter (not the leader). I know I know... many of you would tell me that it goes against wisdom but for some reason it works best for me. I have my wingman take out the flight lead.

I'm getting really good at dodging Aim-120s. You all are right... at low altitude you can fool them and make them draggy. I don't see how you can do S-turns while still approaching your target though... something i need to keep working on.

I took out the #2 man and my wingman got #1, Now... we're on our way to nail that C-130.

I could see his fat radar cross section in my radar scope for miles away.

Wait.... no way... can't be just out there by himself! The F-16s were probably there to screen me or take down the frogfoots?

Just to be safe I didn't activate my radar. I was going to go for a stealth attack using just the IRST. I was lit up by the escorts on radar so I felt it was time to return the favor. I was hoping that whatever they were they we're 4th generation aircraft. (later I found out they were Tigersharks... BWA HA HA HA!). Had my wingman launch at one escort. I fired my R-27 and turned away in case they were pissed. Next thing I see is a huge explosion and a massive smoke trail. WAAAAY too big for fighters. I KNOW there are at least 2 more fighters out there so I turn back in, illuminate the area, pick out a fighter (no jamming!!! easy!!!!) let loose my last R-27ER. BANG! My wingman gets the last bloke.

Whooo hooo!!! Not bad.

Oh crap... not much fuel. Hmmm... I send my wingman home. We're down to 2500 kilos!!!

I call AWACS and GCI and ask for nearest home plate. Well... they give me the nearest AIRFIELD but unfortunately... it's ENEMY!!!!! So... here I am on fumes thinking "Gee... how nice of those GCI chaps to help me out."

The next thing I know the RWR is chirping away AHEAD of me!!! I ask AWACS to declare the target... silence. SHIT!

It all hits me and I run like hell. I died after dodging between the mountains. Put up a hell of a fight. I'm learning really fast! The sim is tough but I LIKE a challenge!:smartass:

Just wanted you guys to know that I'm sucking less and less. LOL!:pilotfly:

Make sure you lock the contact before you ask AWACS guy to declare it for U as he can't declare your RWR spikes!

F-16 Radar Cross Section (RCS) is pretty small IRL, so is in LOFC!

2500 kilos is a plenty, that's about all you get after a scramble to 10000m in a Fulcrum without drop tanks!

Like I said, use your reheat wisely!

Trade alt for smash as much as U can! Your Su-27 is the best tree top fighter in LOFC! There's no need for going higher than opponent unless you wanna extend your missile range!

When climbing to an altitude while trying to remain in same perimeter you better circle climb in military power with VVI@10m/s rather than pitching nose up 70° with reheat! You'll cover about the same distance, you'll burn less fuel but of course it takes more time!

I'm glad you're getting better!

The problem with this scenario is that the Hawk battery has 12 missiles and drives me down to the deck to get close enough to the F-16s. Because of their altitude they can lob missiles at me all day and stand off. If I stay high I'll be shot at all day by the Hawks. Normally I just say HEY... stand off and let the launcher waste his missiles then go in and engage when he's expended but the bastard has 12 missiles.

I appreciate it is fun to go kill the other bad guys, but from memory I thought your only mission goal was the C-130 and his close escorts? That way you have no reason to go anywhere near any of the three HAWK batteries whilst chasing the other bandits......

I say - get in, get out, home for vodka and medals :)

Yes, the goal itself is the C-130. This is the "stealth" mission isn't it? Command your wingnut to turn off his radar. Keep your own radar off. Stay just out of the escorts' radar range, allow them to pass ahead of you, then turn into them with radar still off and come up behind them?

I believe I said I only turn my radar on when I wanna shoot some SARH missiles! Especially if there's a A-50 around!

Yep. No sense in giving your enemy more information. This is a PERFECT example of the vast differences between AI and live competition. Employing realistic tactics against AI is more of a crapshoot, but against live competition- you have much more control over your fate.

BTW of course you can use that as your sig. I'm honored to have made an impact on YOUR attitude towards learning a very difficult sim.

It bothers me to see people give up because they got online for the first time and got shredded. Mostly because they depended on the crutches instead of dedicating themselves to the learning process. It's obvious that you have no intention of taking that path.

Very. very huge amount of your RCS depends on your radar state!

Remember your radar always emitts more than it receives back in return! Lots of "echo microwaves" are lost due to noise and clutter.

So if there's a AWACS in the map, sharply toggle your radar on/off to pick up a datalink from AWACS. This allows you to have contacts that AWACS tracks displayed on your MFD (if flying a Flanker or Fulcrum) without a need of having tell tale radar lit up throughout the flight!

Of course you're unaware of contacts that AWACS can't "see" due to obstacles in terrain (valleys, mountains), range or terrain clutter (objects pretty close to the ground-NOE-tree top). But that's where your EOS (IRST) becomes handy!

BTW cobrabase I'm glad you nailed those suckers in Flanker Mission #1!

Hope our advices helped U!

The advice most surely helped! Thanks to all you teachers out there! I'm a pesky student. :smartass: Hope all the questions aren't boring you all. There's a great community here.

It will take time but I want you schoolmasters to be proud of me.

Of course, community and forum is the best, none of others is like this. :D

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D
