Majesco Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 my Eng is not good so i'm very lazy to read lots of thread in DCS discussion area, just want to ask everyone about hardware configuration for BS :( With my comp: Dualcore E2160 @ 3.2Ghz, 3GB of RAM and ATI X1650XT 256MB, should be upgraded for playing the next version of LOFC ? I've heard some beta testers said DCSBS is much terrible than LOFC on hardware config, is that right ? will we have lots of changes for better fps, graphics.... or much the same as FC ? So what's the final result, can anyone tell me some things ? Thanks ! ;) ps: sorry for bad Eng
Yellonet Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 We can't be sure of what will run the game at an acceptable level until it is finished and released but the demands of this game will very likely be higher than the demands of LOMAC i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
Stilgar Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 It is true that DCSBS in multi-core cpu use only one core? greetings from Italy
GGTharos Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Yes, it is true. DCS will eventually upgrade the internal engine to take advantage of multiple cores. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

GGTharos Posted July 11, 2008 Posted July 11, 2008 Bah. It's in the FAQ :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
deviletk Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 I will have to upgrade hard. LOMAC doesnt run good at all on my machine. F4AF after i installed dual core ran like a dream. Campaign with loads of aircraft taxiing, taking off and land before X2 was about 8-12fps. With X2 installed it was between 30-40fps boost. Couldnt believe my eyes :) Only good thing is that a helicopter dont fly as fast and thus doesnt have to load in terrain, objects and textures at the same rate. Ah we will see. Will put cash on standby to get a new system. Regards Alex "Snuffer" D. AMD FX8350 (8 core) 4.1GHZ ::: 8GB Dominator 1600mhz ::: GTX660 2GB ::: 2xHD ::: 24" ASUS
Prophet Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 F4 sees a boost because the campaign engine will run on the other core. It will be very very nice to see LOMAC support multi-core. Will DCS still be CPU limited?
GGTharos Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 (edited) DCS will be CPU limited until the new engine comes out, IIRC - it's in the FAQ but that is the gist of it. Prophet Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 I will look again, I thought that was coming with DCS:BS.
GGTharos Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 There is a newer version of the engine you know from LO in BS right now, which might lead to some confusion :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Prophet Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 I C. Well I hope that new engine comes out soon enough. I would really like to use the power of my GFX card :)
GGTharos Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Same here! :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Stilgar Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Then the best config to run DCSBS could be a cheap 8400 perym, and spend more for good motherboard and ram to heavy overclock. If the multicore compatibility is added with a patch/addon i doubt that take advantage on a quadcore cpu
Legolasindar Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 I think the best thing we can do to assess the requirements that will ask the BS is to say that computers have been trying the beta, and that performance given to you, whether good or bad. So we do an idea. Sorry for my bad english. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Cavallers del Cel - Comunintat Catalana de Simulació http://www.cavallersdelcel.cat
