Latest update crashing, usually in Controls Menu

Recommended Posts

In the last week, I'm getting regular crashes when in DCS, resulting in my PC shutting down dramatically and restarting!  Almost always seems to be when I'm in a menu, usually the Controls Menu.

No mods and done a repair. Also cleared out the temporary files in App Data.

I've attached a log.  Is there anything interesting in it?  Never sure about these things myself.

Hi

the log looks like it has some sound errors, but I dont think that created the crash, the final line is your GPU crashing

2021-02-02 14:51:23.532 ERROR   DX11BACKEND: DX device removed. Reason: 0x887A0006

is your gpu driver up to date and windows?

Are you overclocking or is there a factory overclock on the card?

I am not O/Cing, but the card is factory O/Ced.

I usually do have some extra set in MSI Afterburner, but to check if this was the issue, I removed it a couple of days ago. Same thing occurring.

Not seen this happening ever before, just in the last few days, since the last patch.  Could be a coincidence, but...

  • 2 weeks later...

This is still happening.  Only DCS is causing an issue for me.  Just causes my PC to shutdown and restart about once a week.

Log attached, but same last line as in the one above.

Nothing obvious in Event Viewer system/applications around the time of the DCS crash.

Tried, and it made no difference.

The crashes always occur when I am in Menus as you can see from the log files. New one attached.

Just to reiterate, I have no GPU/CPU overclocking, no SSLR, no MSI Afterburner,  pagefile set to 32gb and a new Corsair RM850x PSU.

I don't see this often, DCS crashing in the menus. In the log file, all seems in order, until the "DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED" thing happens.

Please try to rename your "Saved Games\DCS.openbeta" into "DCS.openbeta_backup", then launch DCS and see if it keeps crashing.

If so, please attach your dxdiag log.

Don't accept indie game testing requests from friends in Discord. Ever.
