First off, fantastic campaign.  The realism and attention to detail, procedures and flight admin is exactly the thing that elevates the immersion factor. The one small item I would really appreciate is the ability to use real world squadron liveries. The included ones are excellent, but (my opinion only) they kill the mounting realism. Maybe this is a copyright, DoD issue or such?

Unfortunately you can't use real Navy logos without a permission from the Navy Licensing Office. Bio didn't want to go behind their back so we submitted an application. We didn't get a reply for over 3 months so we went for plan B - fictional squadrons. We even had to remove the word "Topgun"  - those would have been the original callsigns. Not that it makes a big difference in terms of realism..

If you like, you can change your livery in the mission editor or before startup using the rearm/refuel panel.

So, with that said, does HB have to get licensing from the US NAVY for the F-14 module, and ED for the F/A-18?

I remember scratching my head at the new squadrons but they are definitely interesting.  Have they still not replied?  If they reply at some point, will you adjust to the new ones?

Oh yeah that makes sense.  Do you think they'll ever respond or was it lost?

We withdrew our application after waiting 5 months. It's not a fork in the road we can go back to. We made our choice and built Zone 5 on that choice.

I liked the fictional squadrons so much I edited a bunch of the missions to let me fly as Bozo and Jester spent an entertaining amount of time in Gimp making another VF-28 skin so I could have someone to fly with.

Gave me a bit of freedom to not worry too much about whether I was doing things right or not.

I like to imagine the continuing adventures of VF-28 and the USS San Clemente.
