Strong05 Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 (edited) Update: AMD NAVI2 users; fixed my FPS issues by forcing dx11 on, and changing PCEI from auto/4 to PCEI 3. I also updated bios to latest stable, and the newest amd drivers (11 Feb), beta version of steam, and WMR. Picked up a 6800xt and so far I am not impressed with the performance. Lots of really bad artifacting when in re-projection mode, especially in the cockpit, that was never present with my old 1080ti (i.e. seeing double on the MFD OSB's). The 6800XT paired with a G2 will not run the game well at more then 80% SS (set in steam 1.0PD in game) with pretty low settings in game. Setting SS at 100% in steam will net always in reprojection and most of the time much lower 45fps. Overall performance seems to be just marginally better then the 1080ti with SS at 70%. I was never expecting perfect performance but this seems to be pretty far below what those with 3080's are getting (seems to be the same with MSFS as well). All of these FPS examples are on minimally populated maps over Normandy and PG. Can any 3080 users chime in with their experience and FPS? From what I've been reading it sounds like that card is fairing better at dealing with DCS. graphics"] = { ["DOF"] = 0, ["LensEffects"] = 0, ["MSAA"] = 0, ["SSAA"] = 0, ["SSAO"] = 0, ["SSLR"] = 0, ["anisotropy"] = 2, ["aspect"] = 1.7777777777778, ["chimneySmokeDensity"] = 0, ["civTraffic"] = "", ["clouds"] = 1, ["clutterMaxDistance"] = 0, ["cockpitGI"] = 0, ["effects"] = 3, ["flatTerrainShadows"] = 1, ["forestDistanceFactor"] = 0.5, ["fullScreen"] = false, ["heatBlr"] = 0, ["height"] = 2160, ["lights"] = 2, ["messagesFontScale"] = 1, ["motionBlur"] = 0, ["multiMonitorSetup"] = "1camera", ["outputGamma"] = 2, ["preloadRadius"] = 150000, ["rainDroplets"] = false, ["scaleGui"] = 1.25, ["shadowTree"] = false, ["shadows"] = 3, ["sync"] = false, ["terrainTextures"] = "max", ["textures"] = 2, ["treesVisibility"] = 5000, ["useDeferredShading"] = 1, ["visibRange"] = "High", ["water"] = 1, Edited February 13, 2021 by Strong05 5800X3d, 32GB DDR4@3400, 6800 xt, Reverb G2, Gunfighter/TMWH

I think generally your performance does not reflect the card's potential . Using a RiftS , my DCS settings are incomparably higher , including pd 1.4 and msaax2 . Several others higher as well . Can't help much with troubleshooting , as i'm new to the 6800xt myself , but you almost certainly have a setup or Windows/Adrenalin settings issue . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2
Strong05 Posted February 9, 2021 Author Posted February 9, 2021 (edited) Thanks Svsmokey. I saw that thread, which in part lead me to believe that a 6800xt would perform well in DCS (among other benchmarks). I knew it wasn't going to perform quite as good as a 3080 due to other benchmarks, just not this poorly. Unfortunately I don't think a Rift S, even at 1.4PD is a good comparison. The G2 is pushing a lot more pixels compared to any other headset out there (with a few exceptions). It could be setup issue... I'm all ears as to what should be tried, and I will continue to tinker and report back any findings. I ran a couple of most tests last night and I am indeed GPU bound with gpu frame times creeping up to 15ms with steam SS set to 74%, which is a far cry from those claiming to get similar performance at 100% SS on nvidia GPU's. coldViPer Posted February 9, 2021 Posted February 9, 2021 I have use 3080 now about 3 months and it's good card with solid and smooth performance. Works very well with my G2. I also got a 6800XT last week and decided to test it. Oh man, I spent the whole weekend trying to get it work. There is really some problems with AMD drivers. I even reinstalled Windows and DCS lol. Still stuttering and reprojection doesn't work at all (drops from 45 fps to 30 fps all the time). So I decided to sell AMD and keep Nvidia, I really wanted to keep it because of VRAM. otavio Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 Just trying to inform everyone that has these cards. Current AMD drivers for 6800/6800XT/6900XT have a performance bug in VR as well as issues with motion reprojection. Downgrading SteamVR to 1.10.20 and WMRforSteamVR to the march 20 build fixes the stuttering issue and reprojection works better, although it still drops to 30fps sometimes, but without stuttering. If you need help with it, let me know, as the tutorials are scarce. Which is why I wasn't pleased with the performance. 13 hours ago, otavio said: Just trying to inform everyone that has these cards. The other thing I've heard that can help is turning PCIE to 3 or auto instead of 4 in the bios. 5800X3d, 32GB DDR4@3400, 6800 xt, Reverb G2, Gunfighter/TMWH
JayRoc Posted February 11, 2021 Posted February 11, 2021 Its pretty much summed up in the Thread mentioned above: Use reprojection, if you dont like it go for the Force DX11 mode until they fix this.
