Add a system to only allow server-admins to ban a player if evidence has been shown that that player has ruined gameplay for anyone

MP server administration is for the server owner and whoever they choose to administrate on their servers. They make their own rules, and can ban whoever they like to, it is their server.

We have rules on the forum about not having MP disputes, and we have no interest in policing private servers either.

thank you.

I'm confused - DanielNL said he is "pulling strings in the background" to get unbanned. Does he have that kind of leverage with the ED staff? if so, how lol?

If he meant the blueflag staff, he has said things like that before - and it has never been true, so he shifts the story a little bit to "actually I'm speaking to someone else in the admin team, you'll see in a few weeks but I can't tell you much more right now..."

Disagree, as most servers are crowdfunded by its players and as serious & loyal players paid a whopping amount of money for their own modules aswell.

Every player should be treated equally, squadron-players of specific squadrons should not be prioritized over squadron players of newer or smaller squadrons (it sadly seems to be a growing trend in the DCS multiplayer community...).

Indeed, every player should receive fair treatment from their preferred community servers. So, why would you put up with unfair behavior towards you on a server? To me, if that's happening, I'd go find a new server. I spend too much time in practice and too much damn money on this game to stick around with those whose heads are phallic in nature.

And yes, most servers are crowdfunded, but the question really is "Are you a funder?" One method of ensuring server fees are paid every month is to offer special perks to regulars who do visit the server and this has gone on for decades. I remember giving money to servers in various Half-Life mods like Natural Selection and Battlegrounds to ensure my experience on that server was optimized. Frequently, it's a community of friends who fund a server. They all chip in to run a server and why should they treat strangers any differently than the minimum expectations of social decency? Why should strangers be held in the same level of regard as long time friends?

More servers could set themselves to private and require a password, though. Then, there's no issue here at all!

So, why should ED get involved into an issue it more correctly delegates to private server administrators? That means, ED would need to expend more resources to do a job that really isn't needed. That'd probably also require changes to the software itself to necessitate this change. I have a feeling most people prefer being able to depend upon third party server hosting as opposed to waiting on the advent of an ED moderation team.

So, find a new server, get involved with its community. It's really that simple.

This isn't exclusive to gaming online, either.

Paintball, auto-clubs, and various other hobbies all prioritize those who get more involved with both time and money than others.

This is only from memory so I can't find the post, but I recall a long while back he subscribed to the servers patreon page to get the discord "donator" tag and then immediately cancelled the payment hoping the tag would remain.. I think he did continue donating after that though but i'm not sure

To me, that demonstrates not only a disinterest in the quality of the community, but a desire to game the system at the expense of it.

And that'd get a banhammer from me, provided I didn't get a message to the effect of "Oops, I really needed this elsewhere so I had to cancel."

We dont have any strings to be pulled regarding MP server bans, so not sure what is meant by the comment.

I will remind everyone before this goes any further that MP disputes are not welcome here on the forum.

wow ... I’m so glad to not be a part of the MP scene anymore, single player is so much more satisfying 😇

You gotta find a clique of friends to get the most out of MP.

Currently, server-admins of very popular servers have way too much power and can ban anyone they don't like, as they don't need to worry about enough players joining their server everyday...

Idea for a great system:

a server-admin issues a ban, the ban-data is then sent to ED server and added to a database (server-name/IP and player-ID).

The DCS server-admin (or players) then have 6 hours to submit proof/evidence material to ED (material that must proof that at least one player was negatively affected).

If nothing is submitted, the ban is automatically reverted.

Appreciate you feel strongly about this, but we have no plans for any database or to participate in private server administration.

All MP server bans queries should be directed at the server admin.

thank you
