Why can't we have a free swiveling head (with mouse or TrackIr) from the commanders position in tanks and IFV's? I mean a view that does not drag any weapons with it. That would be much faster like the drivers view (LCntl+C)

There's also isometric view (I think that's what it's called in the binds?) — free look, and while weapons will follow the view as best they can, the looking around is not tied to or limited by them.

I think there used to be a way to use trackir to look around in the commander view, or one of the views, I think it got taken out. .
