jomaho Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 This shows the 2080s only slightly ahead: (I have 1080ti and it works great - waiting for 3080) https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2080S-Super-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1080-Ti/4050vs3918 1
Mars Exulte Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Whichever you can get without getting scalped. I'm using a 1080ti and it's still very punchy. 1 Де вороги, знайдуться козаки їх перемогти. 5800x3d * 3090 * 64gb * Reverb G2
Bossco82 Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 For DCS I would go 1080ti. The extra Vram helps. 2
Zeagle Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 1080ti still gets the job done. But, you need a good motherboard, memory, and SSD. Waiting on the 3080 1

Waiting on the 3080 You're right to point out that the 1080 Ti can do very well in DCS, I figured it was a very strong GPU for the time and cost range, as for the motherboard, a CPIe3 board would do, my B450 has no limitations at this level, the RAM makes a difference, although it is more about preventing the CPU to throttle down than anything else. In fact, when the RAM is optimized for your CPU, its buses can work better and to the full of its capacity, a good set of RAM removes the bottheneck, but when it comes to GPU, the buse has too a small bandwidth to make a real difference, in the order of 1, 1.5%, for more speed you'll need Smart Access Memory and withouht the right card to support it it won't work on any game. I conpared the costs of second hand between the 1080 Ti and 1080 Ti from CEX in the UK and frankly, upgrading from the 1080 Ti wasn't worht the difference, the 1080 Ti sells for £530.00 and the 2080 Ti for £800.00, that's with their usual two years warranty, for £800.00, you can get an AMD Radeon 6800XT when they will be available. Apparently they don't have a 2080 S listed for sale but I wouldn't even consider swapping the 1080 Ti for it. Edited March 11, 2021 by Thinder Win 11Pro. Corsair RM1000X PSU.
