hitman Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 I had to get me a new joystick for an e-penor rise and I purchased the X52 pro just recently. I havent recieved it yet, but I would like to know what the major differences between the 2 are since the 52 is the only stick Ive had in the last 3-4 years that was worth anything. Im not looking for the aesthetic features, but the playability features that I can look forward to, and the differences between stability and accuracy. Anyone have both of these sticks? I got the pro version for a steal, so dont pester me with the "shoulda gone with CH" peer pressure. Ill kill you if you do.
A.S Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 more sensro accuracy....not pitch (y-axe) bug anymore....feel good looks good ...and smoother in move i had 3 52 ...and 1 Pro.... now 52 and Pro ..but both modded ..( dont ask lol) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
FA_Crazy-Canuck Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 I never owend an X52 but I went from an X45 to X52-Pro. I have completed my profile and I am really enjoying it. I find it very accurate especially when firing guns. The stick accuracy feels and appears to be miles ahead of my X45. The accuracy is very noticable in IL2 when it is vital get the pipper on target. I had difficulty in getting the radar of the F15 to change scan modes up and down quickly. However I recently found by changing the delay of the macro to 0 the scale now slides up and down smoothly and quickly. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Peyoteros Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Had 2 X52 and now using X52Pro, pro have 2 springs in flight control unit, doesn't feel much different from X52, you also can change colors of lights if you are using Vista 64, other then that they all are made in China... the spring for SAFE flip is better quality, still works after one year, X52 spring got it broken after couple of months. X52Pro is slightly better. "Eagle Dynamics" - simulating human madness since 1991 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] ۞ ۞
FA_Crazy-Canuck Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 Yes you can change the colours, thanks Peyoteros, which is a neat feature. You can change the button colours in XP-Pro as well. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RedTiger Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 The main difference is the feel of the stick. If you were to bump the regular x52 stick over to one side with your hand, it would flop over to the side and probably have just enough tension to right itself. If you did this with the pro, it would probably knock the stick off the desk! The dual springs makes it much, much more rigid.
hitman Posted August 11, 2008 Author Posted August 11, 2008 Im just looking for the accuracy diffrences. Is the pro more responsive?
RedTiger Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Im just looking for the accuracy diffrences. Is the pro more responsive? I think with the pro version Saitek removed hardware dead-zone that bugged so many people about the x52. I'm thinking the responsiveness may be similar. The main difference is the feeling of resistance you get from those dual springs.
hitman Posted August 12, 2008 Author Posted August 12, 2008 (edited) I just got it today...doesnt seem like the mouse wheel bug ever went away, that pisses me off. Stick feels more responsive and looks better than the old, worn out old hag I had. I give it 2 points more than the X52. The new drivers allow the light colors to change, which is good for color coding. Joystick handles extremely slick....not as precise as I expected it but then again, its heads over heels over the old one. Edited August 12, 2008 by hitman_214th
RobGordon Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Hey guys! I'm thinking about getting the X52Pro since 3 buttons on my X52 just stopped working. (See this thread http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=33085) I just can't live without those buttons! Multiplied by 3 modes, I lose 18 buttons, which is unacceptable! From what I've read here, the X52Pro doesn't have any major issues I should be concerned about. But I've also thought about getting the Cougar. The thing is that I've read quite a lot about issues with the cougar and the need to mod it for it to be really good/perfect. So How does an unmodded, stock cougar compare to the X52Pro? ocram Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 The main thing that stopped me from upgrading from my X45 to X52 Pro is, that the rudder rocker is gone. I think it is a neat system. I really wonder how the feeling is with the rudder integrated into the flight stick? I somehow cant imagine that it is a good way to handle the rudders by turning the flight stick.
RobGordon Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I have the saitek rudder pedals so I don't use the built-in rudder. BTW you can lock the rudder on the stick. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hitman Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 I like my x52 pro. Have no regrets buying it.
RobGordon Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 How customizable are those LED colour changes? Can they be triggered by the game for exapmple? That would be pretty awesome! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
kaos.dll Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 X52pro is quite a great Stick and works perfectly... You can lock the build in rudder. You cannot configure the LED with the game. The MFD is not very useful until somebody will create a script to use it with DCS... If you have other questions about the HOTAS feel free to write me a PM (in german if you want ;)) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Hi, so set your worries aside, i had the x36 to start with and the rocker was very nice and all, but it had its flaws.. replaces mine 3 times... it actually got bad enough for me to switch to logitech for a while. I to missed the rocker in the beginning when i updated to x52 pro, but the twist works just fine, and i use it in most games rather then the pedals that i have sitting under my chair (well they are good for braking with ;) ). To: ROBGORDON and KAOS.DLL Also, the LED on the x52pro can be made to change color based on what your doing in the game ie color change when you launch a missile in F4. BUT. it needs to be programed using the SDK that saitek supply so if you dont know your way around it then you will have to sit and wait for someone to do it for you.... Frazer Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 The X52 Pro over the X52 are basicly some fixed bugs and better durability. Certainly worth the few extra bucks though. Forum | Videos | DCS:BS Demo1 / Demo2 | YouTube Channel [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

You can change all the lights except the fire button and the MFD to red, green or amber. I dont really use the multicolors. Although they are pretty nifty when identifying them with a particular system.

urze Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) Sorry to hijack this thread! when is the X52pro extend mod availible? :) very soon... I turned the base 180° that I'm able to reach the Triggers even If the stick is between (Please no funny meant replys! ;) ) my legs. After that you have to inverse the axis in game- so there is no problem at all in doing that. Edited November 27, 2008 by urze Leftside Limited - ideas and solutions
urze Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) And I have to say that the X52 or -Pro is the best none FFB stick out there. I talk of the precision and spring tension/mechanic of the base. I will not talk about the design of the handle- and colors of the LED,s ... -The spring tension is absolute smooth and linear in every position -The spring force works after the inner mechanics of the X and Y axis and gives the friction direct to the handle and works not like in the CH Fighter Stick over the inner mechanics and then to the Handle. This Is a huge advantage for a reliable re-centering,lifetime of the inner parts. So you can use the hall sensors (No direct moving parts like potis- they measure a magnetic field) without the need of a Dead zone. Perfect for controlling a sensitive Helicopter. PS: I want to point out that I have no relationship or contracts with Saitek! It's just the most precise stick out there for affordable money CH and Thrustmaster use 2 springs- one for each axis. So if you move the their Sticks from the left to the upper right (for instance) the force of the stick will be twice that big. And This could lead to a not so precise movement. My mods are made to (merge this disadvantage of the cougar and also) give you a more ergonomic and enjoyable position if you use it between your legs. And as side effect you will have , caused of the extra throw, a much more precise control. Edit: Sorry for the advert but I'm telling you only the truth... :) Edited November 27, 2008 by urze Leftside Limited - ideas and solutions
kaos.dll Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 I fully agree to you! X52pro and the rudder paddels are great for BS... A X52pro-Heli Edition would be great with FFB but I think this would be a dream forever... Please send me an PN after the extention is availible :-) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
