wanderer108 Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 I was trying the "pinpoint strike" mission. The loadout has 2 LAU-3 19 rocket pods. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to use it. Switched to AG mode, selected the pods by ACP. The piper does not appear on HUD. And I can't launch anything. What am I missing? THX
Wisky Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 (edited) this loadout is obsolete and has been removed. you will have to rearm to some 7 rocket hydra pods or wait for baltic dragon to change the mission loadout. (he has already stated that he is holding up on that as a lot of stuff is changing for the harrier at this time, so he is waiting for the major changes to be finished first) Edited March 7, 2021 by Wisky 3
wanderer108 Posted March 7, 2021 Author Posted March 7, 2021 Thanks! Glad I asked before I drive myself crazy
deltatango Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Bump. 24 June 2021. DCS OB ver 2.7.2.8165 and this is the same. Tearing my hair out trying to find what I'd done wrong. Same loadout for day and night pinpoint strike missions. Weird that the 3D model of the LAU-3 pod still shows in ME and game, but you just can't select them. It must be a nightmare keeping track of every single mission's backwards compatibility. Cheers, DT Junior Member for over 6 years. Difference between Ordinance and Ordnance. My X-52 Pro Profile. Dragon1-1 Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 Is that realistic, though? LAU-61 (admittedly, not LAU-3) is listed on at least one loadout sheet for the Harrier, though I don't know what version was that. I liked having the big pods.

I liked having the big pods. it was never used on the nightattack, only for the dayattack. usmc switched to hydras as they can be used for both, their harriers and their rotarys. as such less logistics work for the already cramped space inside a lha storage Edited June 24, 2021 by Wisky
Dragon1-1 Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 LAU-61 is for Hydras (and it has 19 tubes), so that's a separate issue, I think. The question is, however, were they not certified for the Night Attack, or just never used? If it's the latter, then it would be an inconsistency on RAZBAM's part, as for example the Sidearm wasn't used on it, either. Now, I'm not saying it wasn't the right call to chuck the LAU-3, but it would've been nice to have a 19-tube pod (as long as it's actually possible IRL, of course). USMC definitely did use the -61 on their Cobras and Venoms.
Wisky Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 if you can proof to Razbam that its a valid loadout, i am sure they will happily add it. But last thing i heard was, that SME said the NightAttack and Plus Versions have only ever been equipped with the 7 rocket pod. Other than that i am pretty sure the whole unguided rocket stuff is totally outdated. Why would you get so close to possible AAA threats if you can lob a APKWS at 7nm and 20.000 ft and just point your TPOD on the target. Laser in 10. let them helicopters have fun shooting those unguided missiles into enemy infantry and buildings, after we have finished cleaning up the anti air threats.
Beirut Posted June 24, 2021 Posted June 24, 2021 I posted a few weeks back about some old loadouts that are still on my list, including the pods with 19 rockets, but the pods don't work. What does work, I'm happy to say, are the 8 x MK83s. Me I like dat! Some of the planes, but all of the maps!
