Megalax Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 When ever you mess with the arguments to remove the JHMCS from the helmet, the visor completely disappears. Megalax's Livery Studio My Liveries in the User Files I'll stick a maple leaf on anything...
Tholozor Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 (edited) The texture for the visor is shared between the JHMCS visor and normal visor, but divided into 2 halves. One half is used for the JHMCS, the other half is used for the normal visor. The section of the texture for the normal visor is transparent. I wouldn't necessarily call this a bug, since we're adjusting things for non-present features (e.g. a built-in function to swap JHMCS for a normal visor). If you're making a custom livery with the normal visor, you'll also need to include a custom visor texture if you don't want it to be clear. Megalax Posted March 7, 2021 Author Posted March 7, 2021 The issue isn't that I don't know how to fix it, the issue is that I have to fix it. I should be able to use custom args in the lua file without having to provide my own texture for it. 1 Megalax's Livery Studio My Liveries in the User Files I'll stick a maple leaf on anything...

If you are modifying a LUA file then it is not a base-game feature but a mod. The dev's are under no obligation to support a mod. It may be a future feature buy for now it is nonfunctional thus not supported by the devs. 1

In my view, editing a .lua in that sense, doesn't fall under the modification category. It is clearly a feature to have the ability to completely remove pylons, change bort numbers or change pilot helmet visors for a certain skin via the .lua. Since it's there for you to make us of it. If we change the numbers of flare/chaff carried via a .lua it isn't a base-game feature but a modification. Although it represents a realistic option and is included within the base game? Removal of pylons in the Mission Editor is just as well controlled with lua files. If we change the aircrafts loadout options (new weapons) that obviously is an unrealistic change and a modification. The problem here is that changing the visor texture, or removing the JHMCS by replacing it with a bungee visor, is transparent. Such visors vary in color and transparency which makes it difficult to decide whether that's realistic or not. So in other words is it worth a fix or not. It is a bug if the visor color is incorrect, not realistic. A very small detail but bugs need to be reported no matter how insignificant they are, and for a texture artist this is considered a bug. - My Skins/Liveries - Improved F-16C Texture Template • Texac on YouTube •
