Hi

anyone knows what the red symbol means? Ive gone through the manual, but there is no mention of a HAFU on AA radar with cross in it. It looks similar to TXDSG symbol on SA page, but this is on AA radar page.

The cross should mean that it is the 1st priority target. if you hit Undesignate it will automatically select that as L&S.

I mean the red thing, not the green cross.

Its a surface track. Means someone else on the link network has designated a target on the ground.

Okay, but why is it on AA radar page? What am I supposed to do with it there?

I see.

I thought it means something else on AA radar page (because its an AG thing otherwise) or maybe a bug.

Thanks.

It shouldn't be on the radar page, just the SA Format.  It almost looks like an offboard hostile track, but the cross makes it look more like a moving surface track.  Either way, you are correct in wondering why it shouldn't be there.

Thats the whole MSI thing that hornet has, its there for general SA.

A/G tracks are not actually part of MSI despite having HAFU-like symbols. MSI is the term for A/A trackfile sensor fusion. Anyway  it does seem per @Mo410 who I assume is a pilot or avionics guy that they should only be on the SA format, and not the Az/El or Attack format.

Correct, all those symbols are part of the Link-16 and SA Format / Radar Attack format displays.  MSI is used to fuse multiple sources into one track file to avoid double targeting while giving an accurate (ideally) picture.  All A/A tracks and Link symbols for A/A will appear on the Rdr/SA/Az/El, which I don't believe is how it is currently modeled.  A/G tracks will appear on the SA Format and the HSI (one only) if designated by the ownship.  We are getting there, but not quite modelled correctly.  TX Desg, for example is only for A/G designations, as A/A are always passed unless turned off.  Again, this is how they chose to model it, and it is not too far off.
