Fahrenheit007 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I've seen a vid of sim HQ where Chris "BeachAV8R" Frishmuth is sending his Wingman to a Recon Flight the target area and the Wingman is trying to send him enemys position over the Data Link, so my Question When I were the Wingman (in multiplayer for example) must i lock al targets with my Skhval to send it over the Data Link or must I only be in the near of them??? GREETz Fahrenheit Your six is my twelve!!! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Link to virtual 52nd Fighter Wing on picture
sobek Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 The data link is coupled with the skhval complex so i'm pretty sure you have to slew the skhval over the targets to send their position. Only having to be near a target to be able to dlink it's position would be pretty unrealistic IMHO. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Yellonet Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I think you can manually input the enemy positions into the abris and then send that data too... maybe ;) i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
nemises Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 bring on the Data Link Producers Note :) ...I can see issues with target data using the INS, since both aircraft are going to be out of alignment in different degrees.. If it's Abris Data , then I guess that s great, but then it can't be used to aim the targetting system , which only uses the INS / shkval I think. ohhh..complicated :):):):):):):)
sobek Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 That's why you do the periodical alignment, besides, IMHO the data link information is only useful to give you the approximate position of units, not to point any weapon systems, so the given accuracy should be adequate. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
kiss4luna Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 wow, i noticed the blades shadows i mentioned before were corrected looking forward to its releasement RTX 3070
crazysundog Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 You would have no co-ords to send if you did not lock up the enemy. AFAIK, your helicopter will not automatically detect enemy units and draw them on the Abris; you must do it yourself... Unless of course it is possible in arcade mode.

If it's Abris Data , then I guess that s great, ... Yes but the Abris is not 100% reliable. I remember in Beach's 2nd vid, his abris was out to lunch because he only had 4 Sats right above his head, and trshld (threshold) was displayed at the top of the screen. When he did see a 5th sat, he had PDOP 30 (Positional Dilution of Precision), which means his abris is still only accurate to 30-50 meters. Unless of course it read PDOP 3D, in which case i need my eyes checked. I would like to know if we have access to an Almanac, so we can plan our missions around a time when we will have a good sat constellation?! 1

Which is exactly why you can't beat the good ol' Mk I Eyeball, some lines and a paper chart! Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
GGTharos Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Too true! On one flight someone put in the wrong coordinates in the GPS for an airport - it was showing us 30nm away when we were right on top of it! GREETz Fahrenheit 1. :megalol: 2. I would think to get a fix on the targets location you would have to lock it up befor the data transfer.
