My setup is below

MB: Prime X570 pro

CPU: AMD 5800x

GPU: ASUS RTX 2070 o8G  oc to 1945Mhz

RAM: 32GB DDR4 @ 3600MHz

Disk: Intel 760P 2T NVME M.2 SSD

OS: Win10 x64 Pro with lastest updating

So the question is is it possible to run DCS smoothly at  middle setting with Reverb G2?

I know it is better to replace 2070 with a higher powerfull card, but as you konw it is not a good time to by a new card ATM.

I have a similar system (same CPU and RAM) but a bit more VRam on my 1080ti (not sure how much of a difference that makes)

With motion smoothing enabled, I get a very stable and smooth experience at medium settings, it doesn´t drop below 45 fps.

Though I have to lower the resolution in Steam VR quite a bit (to around 60%)

i have a 1080ti as well , and it runs pretty good. I've put my res in steam vr on 50%, no msaa and medium to low settings

On the ww2 spitfire campaign, i had some bad time (heavy frames drops).

But it was the same thing with my rift-s when i played that campaign a couple of years ago, altough the normandy map should be alot smoother nowadays.

So its hard to compare, and most likely a cpu or memory problem due to the many units in those missions

I haven't had a chance to test with 2.7 yet.  But prior to 2.7 I was able to get a good image and useable frame rate of > 45fps with an overclocked 2070.  You will probably need to lower the super sample resolution a bit and then adjust the settings until you get an image that you like an acceptable frame rate.  The 1080 is a more common card and seems to have similar performance to the 2070.

G2 was shipped yestday,  there is only 20~ FPS in Syria, need more tunning,

I am using a Reverb G2 with a RTX 2070 8Gb black edition.  I am getting the same fps and frametimes with 2.7 as I did with 2.5.  On the F/A-18 Supercarrier Persian Gulf cold start (my bench mark mission) I was initially was getting 30 to 38fps and 20 to 22 ftms.  I reinstalled the kegety shader mod and I am back to 38 to 45fps and 16 to 19ftms.  This is on the loaded carrier deck with two F/A-18s taking off in front of me.  DCS PD 1.1, SteamVR General at 100%, SS DCS specific at 38.  Still doing some tuning as well.

Hi Tshark,

Which CPU do you have and how the CPU and GPU load when running DCS?

I am using an i7-9700K at 3.5G.  My RTX2070 is an 8Gb card o/c to 1620Mhz.  FpsVR showing GPU load around 80% and CPU load at 20% (one of the reasons I have not o/c the CPU).

DCS is limited to two cores only.  If you check task manager, you'll see two cores constantly maxed out.  The reason you see CPU load at 20% is because none of the other cores are loaded much and drag the near 100% of the other two cores down.  I'd still recommend OC'ing the CPU, since the game is CPU bound.

Thanks for the reply.  I have been researching o/c the CPU.  It has been many years since the last time I did it.

Can you share you misson or track so I can test it in my PC. My GPU run about 99% so it seems that your CPU is the bottleneck. You may try to O/C your CPU to let your GPU run at a full power.

I use the stock F/A-18 SuperCarrier Cold Start mission with the Persian Gulf terrain for my fps testing.  I just sit in the cockpit and watch the computer performance as the two F/A-18s get catapulted off in front of me.  I am planning on trying some CPU o/c today and see what I get.

Your CPU actually runs much faster - that 3.5GHz speed is the slowest it'll run at rest. It should automatically ramp up to 4.92GHz when loading a single core, then 4.8GHz for two, and so on and so forth. I have my 9700K overclocked to churn out 5GHz when all cores are active. My new 11900K arrives from Silicon Lottery tomorrow - I'm hoping to hit 5.5GHz when running two cores. Should crush DCS.
