Frag Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Hi guys, I was reading something about CCRP and MK84 in another thread and it brought a question to my mind. I use both the CCIP and CCRP mode, however I specialized myself with the CCIP ... so I do not know CCRP as much. CCIP requires a dive to be precise so it exposes you more to retaliation from an aggressive target. This being said, it is sometime safer to use CCRP from higher altitude on a flat trajectory when possible to avoid getting shot at. So let's say a truck size target ... from which altitude would you feel that you could destroy the target every time with a dumb MK-84 in CCRP mode? I know that you would usually use CCRP on bigger target like a bridge or a building with many bombs ... but let talk precision here: Single MK-84 and a small truck target.

As long as you can see the target visually and put the pipper onto it, while maintaining a dive of no less than ~16 degrees the bomb should hit. Minimum altitude is more important, because of the arming time of the fuse and blast radius Edited April 17, 2021 by Falconeer Planes: Choppers: Maps: Flaming Cliffs 3 Black Shark 2 Syria A-10C Tank killer 2 Black Shark 3 Persian Gulf F/A18C Hornet AH-64 Apache Mariana's F-16C Viper Afghanistan F-15E Strike Eagle Kola Peninsula Mirage 2000C AJS-37 Viggen JF-17 Thunder F-14 Tomcat F-4E Phantom
G.J.S Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 CCRP accuracy would depend on winds between you and target, any shear or direction change would make CEP larger. Mk84 blast radius should negate most reasonably small miss distances against a soft target however. Personally I don’t use CCRP much, if at all. CCIP is my preferred method from a low pop-up. - - - The only real mystery in life is just why kamikaze pilots wore helmets? - - -
Frag Posted April 18, 2021 Author Posted April 18, 2021 Yeah not much reply as well. CCRP is probably not really popular.
Dragon1-1 Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 Might be because it's not that accurate. It's great for CBUs and large targets like buildings, CCIP is where it's at when you need precision.
DD_fruitbat Posted April 18, 2021 Posted April 18, 2021 I happened to make this vid a while back, I know its a Hornet not a Viper, but at 10,000 feet you can hit a truck, as long as no wind in CCRP, 2

I use CCIP only if I have no pod available or can't lock my target before the attack. If it is possible to use CCRP, then I go for CCRP. Except high drag bombs. A general rule of thumb for unguided bombs is: The higher you are, the worse the accuracy. Winds have an effect, your own precision has an effect, winds change on altitude, you have gusts... Above 15000ft even CBU97 will miss. Go as high as you need to be to pull out safely without getting into the frag zone or going over G limits. Or loft them in with CCRP. Unguided bombs have a high chance for you to die by MANPADs or AAA if you don't do it by yourself by entering the frag zone. Or you go high altitude and do carpet bombing, but then it will be pure luck even on the fine weather on all those multiplayer servers out there.
SpaceMonkey037 Posted April 20, 2021 Posted April 20, 2021 Might be noteworthy to add that all continuesly calucalted modes have their flaws. It's really important to limit manuevering close to drop as the update rate isn't perfect, meaning that if you suddenly pull up the computer might miss the drop window and the bomb can hit far, and wise versa for pulling down. For that reason make sure to not do any sudden manouevers right before weapon release.
