DCS updater fails on launch json error

When I try to launch DCS 2.7 open beta I get this error. JSON error: lexical error: invalid char in json text  (right here) ------^

 

Same error If I try to repair or try to update.

have you edited your autoupdate.cfg by any chance? 

 

try removing it and running a repair again

No I have not made any changes, I just did a new install, got tired of the Easter egg hunt for a solution.  But thanks for the suggestion.

autoupdate.cfg deleted and repair is running like a charm
