Saw this on digg, figured I might post a link here. Quite a few crazy and insane ideas for aircraft over the years. :)

How about An-124. I happened to be inside of the fuselage of the An-124, inspecting some mining equipment cargo in the town of Udachny, province of Yakutia. That airplane is enormously large as well!

Not big but pure ownage anyway.

This is the Caproni Ca.60 Noviplano. It (or she?) crashed in the its maiden flight in 1921.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caproni — list of Caproni's aircrafts, some of them looks completely weird, like this Stipa-Caproni. It was not monstrous by the size, it just looks monstrous.

Don't be so sure. K-7 design is almost flying wing.

You think that makes up for the rest of the airplane? You know like ...... the 6 massive prop engines, the massive struts, and enormous and unretractable landing gears? Forget about B2, we should have used this! That's comedy

BTW, if you turn the Sears Tower on its side ... it looks almost like a diamond airfoil wing too :megalol:

Aviation was so much cooler before they started involving science. :D

Of course it was joke. But for 1933 K-7's RCS was not so bad, isn't it?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Helistat

The PA-97 was built under a 1980 U.S. Navy contract for the Forest Service to demonstrate a heavy vertical air lifter for harvesting timber from inaccessible terrain. The single demonstrator used a Navy ZPG-2W blimp and four H-34J helicopters. The combination of a large blimp with powered lift made the 343 feet (104.57 m) long helistat the largest dynamic lift aircraft in the world.
