Bagpipe Posted April 28, 2021 Posted April 28, 2021 Hi guys, So I have not been suffering too much on performance since 2.7 which has been absolutely fantastic. However, I recently bought and installed another sim which runs on DX9 and when I flew DCS today my performance has completely plummeted to a slideshow. I am unsure if this is coincidental or if there would be a reason that installing DX9 onto my system would interfere with DCS in any way? Hopefully somebody can shed some light

Hopefully somebody can shed some light I would first try a Repair of DCS and see if that helps. Might also try doing a clean Nvidia driver install of latest drivers using DDU. 1 Don B EVGA Z390 Dark MB | i9 9900k CPU @ 5.1 GHz | Gigabyte 4090 OC | 64 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200 MHz CL16 | Corsair H150i Pro Cooler |Virpil CM3 Stick w/ Alpha Prime Grip 200mm ext| Virpil CM3 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Base w/ Alpha-L Grip| Point Control V2|Varjo Aero|

Eugel Posted April 29, 2021 Posted April 29, 2021 You could also check for a Microsoft Direct X update. DirectX should be downward compatible, but I´ve seen very old games installing older versions of DX over newer ones. Maybe some DX part was overwritten and that´s causing some problems, or it´s causing DCS to run on DX9 as well... 1
Pocket Kings Posted May 1, 2021 Posted May 1, 2021 NEVER do this kind of approach again. Next time you wanna play an old game that whines about unknown DX version and the likes, install a Win 7 into VirtualBox or VMWare Player. I'd stay far away from any downgrade scenarios or tinkering for your "main install".
Bagpipe Posted May 11, 2021 Author Posted May 11, 2021 All good the gpu drivers needed reinstalling and it sorted it out. Prob a one off anomaly tbf.
