SwingKid Posted January 11, 2005 Posted January 11, 2005 The site is down due to heavy traffic, it'll come back up eventually. In the meantime, I think there is a mirror buried in message #15 of this thread: http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=34747&highlight=su-27sk+manual Note however that those seven zip files constitute only the "first part" of the documentation, there has been some more recent stuff uploaded. -SK
SUBS17 Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Thats awesome, does it go into Ramp starting the Flanker? It would be very cool to be able to do that properly in Flanker4. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
SwingKid Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Hmmm... I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you... because your next question would be "can you translate it?" :) -SK
SUBS17 Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 rofl, I wonder if its as much fun as an F-16. You know a friend of mine read a book called Chickenhawk. Its all about chopper pilots in vietnam. The book is very detailed in flying the Huey. One day whilst at an airport in Thailand he walked over to an Air Force Huey and sat in the pit. Next thing he started switching everything on, he got as far as almost engaging the rotors and looked up and saw 10 M-16s pointing at him. That was the end of that fun. cheers Subs [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Nate--IRL-- Posted January 12, 2005 Posted January 12, 2005 Excellent book Chickenhawk, put it on your "To Read" list. It is well worth it. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
SUBS17 Posted January 13, 2005 Posted January 13, 2005 Already done that, another good one is Tornado Down. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
leafer Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 Ahh...I love reading technical stuff! I'll put those on my list at Amazon. If you like aircombat stuff read Mark Weber (Ex F4 pilot in Nam) books. And 'Pak Six: A True Story' about an F104 pilot's experienced in NAM. That was the best 'Aircombat over Nam' book I've read! He goes in to small detail such as not lowering flap during such and such cuz it might cause a fire or something like that. I love that stuff. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
britgliderpilot Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 Already done that, another good one is Tornado Down. "No Escape Zone" A British Sea Harrier pilot that gets shot down over Bosnia. Ejects, meets up with the resistance, gets delivered to the SAS, they all hike out and get picked up by a French helicopter. I feel I must stress that the book is a TRUE STORY, despite the Hollywood storyline. Brits rule 8) There's another book written by a member of the SAS patrol that he meets up with - I remember reading it at school, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Good stuff in about the Sea Harrier, including some dogfighting with the German MiGs, STOVL ops, and carrier ops. Fun. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Kula66 Posted January 15, 2005 Posted January 15, 2005 Good book BGP ... especially the bit where they all mis-read the map and end up having to run the last few miles to meeting the evac! Nice to know that even elite commandoes and Harrier pilots get Nav wrong! From memory the Harrier pilot committed the cardinal sin of ground attack ... returned to bomb a target a number of times. They were ready for him! James
SUBS17 Posted January 16, 2005 Posted January 16, 2005 I'll keep a look out for that one britgliderpilot. Some of my favourites include CQB, Immediate Action, Bravo 2 zero and The one that got away. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
