monotwix Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 I enjoyed watching this Russian plane take off, I thought you might as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um1cSJ650uM I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
hitman Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 What does that have to do with this thread? Its a good video (and its not a weight and balance issue its a hot and humid day) but should be in the vids section...
monotwix Posted September 27, 2008 Author Posted September 27, 2008 Weight calculation 1.01G rotation. I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.

mikoyan Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 They should have abort the take of right? after reaching v1? the only place were I do stuff like that is on fs2004!
hitman Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 On something like that, I think you would want to go a little bit faster than V1 for the takeoff roll...have ground effect work with you in helping create lift.
IvanK Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 (edited) Actually I think its just that the Russian Take off certification for this type (transport) operation is different to that used in the "west". I don't think they need to account for the Engine failure GO case, as is required in the west. In simple terms in the west one of your limiting take off weights is that you must be able to get airborne with an engine failure occurring at V1 and be able to clear the departure end threshold with a specified minimum wheel height. So you must plan assuming an engine will fail and reduce weight if required. There are a number of similar videos/images around of Russian transport types using "curvature of the earth effect" to get airborne. If these guys suffered an engine failure it would have been a runway overrun or crash. Edited September 28, 2008 by IvanK
monotwix Posted September 28, 2008 Author Posted September 28, 2008 Well the lorry drivers just do it. And they do a good job. I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
monotwix Posted October 3, 2008 Author Posted October 3, 2008 Were they expecting for the engine to kick in? This one is more about quick getaway: I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
